Benefits of indoor/vertical farming:
- Crops from indoor framing are grown in three dimensions rather
than two, meaning that it takes up a lot less room compared to
field farming.
- Crops from indoor/vertical farming can be grown all year, not
depending on weather conditions.
- The farms are living biosystems meaning that the environment
can change to whatever the crop needs, to be able to grow.
- Indoor/vertical farming uses less water as you can recycle the
water and it produces less emissions than field farming.
- Crops don't need many pesticides and fertilizers to grow. This is
better for the environment as there is a much smaller risk of
chemical contamination in water from run-off and it is also
better for human health.
- In the future, indoor/vertical farming will be a lot more
accessible, affordable and necessary with a growing population.
- Indoor/vertical farming reduces the risk of exposure for the
crops to harsh climate conditions.
