Analysis Phase
The ITT outlined what is expected from the bidders. During the analysis
stage, Timelogic Enterprises (Pty) Ltd verified that indeed all the
components outlined meet the expected throughput of the network.
That is if a gigabit network is required, all the composite components
outline must support gigabit speed
From the discovery phase above, it was realised that the physical
topology in use is a star. The all the end nodes (network points) are
connected to the cabinet forming in a star topology. Since the core
architecture is already in place, the topology will still be maintained as a
star. The network will be designed with the following design solution in
mind
o Reliability
All this solution come at a steep cost and in order to contain the
cost we usual use 1 and 3. This will provide robustness and
reliability needed by the client at a reasonable price.
o Scalability
o Maintainability
The Ethernet cable that will be used is cat 6a. The length between the
patch panel and the face plate will vary depending on the distance of
the point from the cabinet but will not exceed 96m. The remaining 4m is
for the patch cord and fly lead making a total of 100m which the
Ethernet is cabling standard.

While the quality assurance manager has overall responsibility for the
quality of the project, all Timelogic Enterprises(Pty) Ltd employee are in-
house trained in quality management and continuous quality
improvement for the day-to-day field operations.
2. Quality Communications
With that in mind, the quality communications will have availed to the
client what to expect. In that regard the client will monitor to see if what
is outlined in the plan is being followed. This will usually give the client
some form of way to monitor the contractor to see if they are
conforming to the outlined quality processes. At Timelogic Enterprises
(Pty) Ltd, the project Manager will be monitoring project quality on a
weekly basis. This entails checking workmanship, checking that cables
length for LAN conform to standards. Testing of points and to check
working environment of the workers.
It goes without saying that Timelogic Enterprises (Pty) Ltd will comply
with customer’s specifications. However, in many cases, the customer
specifications do not outline which industry standards apply to the scope
of work. In that regard, we will be using DIT Cabling and LAN Standards
Document No.: GND002 and ISO/IEC 11801 standard as read with the
specification in the tender document. Cabling shall be documented and
recorded according to the TIA/EIA 606 standard or any current LAN
standard.
7. Control of non-conformances
Once the project is completed, the final testing will be done with the
client representative and handed over.
As outline in the quality plan, Timelogic Enterprises (Pty) Ltd will adhere
to both international standards and the DIT standards to ensure that
there is seamless interoperability with legacy systems. This standards
are; The IEEE 802 family of standards maintained by the IEEE 802.
LAN/MAN Standards Committee (LMSC). Since Ethernet cable
Category 6A will be used, the standard for Category 6A is ANSI/TIA-
568-C.1 and shall be followed. This standard dictates that in order for
the network to perform at frequencies up to 500 MHz—twice that of Cat
6e all the devices in the network must be complaint. Also the DIT LAN
standard Document No.: GND002 will be followed.
