HD: INTRODUCE: Good evening everyone. First let me introduce myself.

My
name is Huyền Diệu and the person will present with me name is Ha Linh. Today
we will share with you something about a popular celebration in our country-
VietNam
HL: When it comes to a famous festival, the springs to my mind is Tet holiday,
which is also known as Lunar New Year in Viet Nam. It usually occurs at the end
of January and beginning of February, lasts for 3 days and all of people often have
one week off during Lunar New Year’s Day. Lunar New Year is a very meaningful
holiday, the day for family unions to catch up with each other after a beaver away
year, stay away from the hustle, bustle of life. Before New Year’s Eve, almost
families will hit up the mall to buy for their children new clothes, clean or decorate
their house.Traditionally, every house usually decorate their house by apricot
blossom, peach blossom, kumquat tree, New Year’s tree. Besides that, some house
also decorate their house by a New Year tree in order to keep the ghosts and evil
away.In my city and my village, people also decorate the streets with coloured –
string lights, too.
HD: On Tet holiday, the activity that I think it will bring people closer together is
cooking and prepare traditional food together. We usually make Chung cake, sticky
rice, spring rolls, pork sausage, jellied meat and a food can not have in these days is
pickled small leeks,... To invited guests, who come to our home we usually prepare
roasted watermelon seeds, dried candied fruits, candy,...On the first day of Lunar
New Year, people have a traditional of going to the pagoda, temple at the crack of
dawn to pray for their helth, happiness, lucky or many other purposes. The young
on the first day of Lunar New Year will get lucky money from the adults but the
young need to give them their best wishes On the other hand Lunar New Year also
have some taboos such as: sweep the floor, break things and you shouldn’t wear
dark colored clothes on the first day of Tet.
