THE PROBLEM AND ITS SETTING

A.Introduction
Due to social, environmental, and economic causes, it
is estimated that over 2 million children in the
Philippines are either ignored by their families or
abandoned by them. The country's drug policy has resulted
in violent conflict, which has caused to mothers being
compelled to pursue domestic labor abroad, high levels of
poverty and teen pregnancy, and specific natural
calamities, all of which have caused to children being
taken in by orphanages.

It is essential that children receive the appropriate

types of help if the Philippines is to sustain the
children. Many of the orphanages that have been laboring
to care for the kids lack space or are unable to make
sure kids attend school. The work of Save the Children in
the Philippines has been concentrated on reducing such
gaps by offering early childhood programs and health
education. and  Additional housing would create
conditions that deliver clean and safe water sources,
protection from the elements, and additional stability to
complete their education, satisfying many of the needs
these orphaned children in the Philippines have.

Nueva ecija is one of the province in our country

which is the one of highest rate of poverty in central
luzon. And the caused of poverty is that many children
lose their homes and unable to study. And this problem,
Cabanatuan city the municipality of nueva ecija, proposed
educational center for orphan youth with local government
support for developing orphanage school for homeless
children.

B.Statement of the Problem

The problem about the homeless children and who

cannot study. And it is the main concerned of this
study,It is important to provide ideas like an eco-
friendly building that uses sustainable materials urge
additional sustainability leaders to establish such
frameworks is concerned about both the environment and
children's health education. Moreover, it sought to
answer the following questions:

 What is the appropriate design to achieve a properly

built environment for the children to improve their
social and emotional growth?
 How will the proposed project benefits the homeless
children?
 What spaces do children need for their development?
 How can the eco-friendly design be applied and how
can it help the user of the project?

C.Scope and Delimitation

Scope

The study focusing to provide and design the “ New

educational center for orphan youth in Nueva ecija. This
project applying the characteristic of eco-friendly
design to develop new structure with green spaces. The
project is about to provide a educational center and home
for homeless child with it’s eco-friendly features such
as, Natural materials , garden spaces , Energy-efficient
lighting , and others. In consideration of new
educational center in cabanatuan city, Nueva ecija.

Delimitation

The study focusing to design of educational center for

orphan youth and by conducting many related research
about the project. And it will be a eco-friendly
structure by applying eco-friendly design.

The study delimits any questions about the study, all

of the content of the study are all about the
architectural character of the “ educational center for
orphan youth with eco-friendly design” and the
architectural design which use the green elements and
technology that will help the educational center in
Cabanatuan city to be Eco-friendly design.

D.Significance of the study

The educational center composed of learning and health

facilities such as administration offices , medical
unit , primary school , library , visiting section , etc.
Which provide learning services and facilities for the
orphan youth. The proposed project will be the firs
proposed project in nueva ecija with the eco-friendly
design of educational center for orphan youth.

The project is significant in a manner of:

 to provide eco-friendly learning and home facilities

for homeless children in cabanatuan city.
  To provide shelter ,educational facilities for
orphan youth.
 To give benefits to the built environment of the
orphans and develop the cognitive, social and
emotional growth of the children users in the
facilities.

The project will be the first eco-friendly learning

center for orphan youth in Nueva ecija,the conclusion and
findings in the study will benefit the following:

Children - Eco-friendly Schools for orphan youth help to

increased confidence, development of leadership skills,
improved behaviour and greater motivation of the
children.
Staff/Teacher - the educational center will give adequate
space to work on and healthy surroundings by having green
areas inside the building.
Environment - To provide a healthy environment for
children, help to improving safe water and sanitation,
reducing air pollution, and building safer environments
for children.
