Plot Summary

As the Avengers and their allies have continued to protect the world from threats too large for any one
hero to handle, a new danger has emerged from the cosmic shadows: Thanos. A despot of intergalactic
infamy, his goal is to collect all six Infinity Stones, artifacts of unimaginable power, and use them to inflict
his twisted will on all of reality. Everything the Avengers have fought for has led up to this moment - the
fate of Earth and existence itself has never been more uncertain.

GRAMMAR
 Past Simple

Use the past simple to talk about finished actions in the past.

The form of the past simple is the same for all persons.

To make the past simple of regular verbs add -ed, -ied or -d.

Dance - danced

Cook – cooked

Study (consonant + Y, you take off the Y and add -ied) -

Studied

Stop (consonant + vowel + consonant, you double the last consonant) – stopped

Many common verbs are irregular in the past simple

e.g. go - went,

see – saw

Use did + verb in the infinitive form to make questions.

e.g. Did Loki die in the movie?

Use did not (didn’t) + verb in the infinitive form to make negative sentences.

e.g Thor didn’t die in the movie.

Underline all the sentences in the past simple.

In the movie Infinity War, not all Avengers died. Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, Capitan America and Ironman
survived and I believe they have a great role in the next movie. But I didn’t like that Loki died, because he
was one of my favorite character, although he was a villain. Oh, but I was glad as well that my other
favorite character, Rocket didn’t die. What I liked the most in the movie was that Capitan America and
Ironman were able to fight ‘together’ for the same cause and also Thor’s new hammer is really powerful.
And I cannot believe it was Groot who gave a part of himself to make it. Amazing! Can’t wait for the next
movie. Did you like it?

Now, write 5 sentences in the past simple telling what happened in the movie.

To make past continuous we use:

Subject + to Be + verb (ing)

e.g. Doctor Strange was fighting the bad guys.

 Past simple vs Past Continuous

Use the past simple for a completed action in the past.

Use the past continuous for an action in progress before or at the time of the past simple action.

e.g. Spiderman was riding the school bus when Thanus arrived on earth.
