Network Architecture
Overview BOSS interacts with SSNE through SSNE Interface Message Processor. Direct interaction between BOSS and SSNE is not allowed. Figure 1 shows the network architecture.
ZXSS10 SS1b (V2.0.1.06.1) SoftSwitch Control Equipment Server Billing Command User Guide
Before sending service messages (including customer care system message, traffic message and alarm interface message). BOSS should set up TCP/IP SOCKET connection with SSNE Interface Message Processor. It is one-to-one relationship, guaranteed by BOSS, between BOSS and the SSNE Interface Message Processor. BOSS is not allowed sending multiple Sockets to the SSNE Interface Message Processor for connection. Free BOSS could keep the connection with the SSNE Interface Message Processor only by replying to the heart beat message. BOSS replies to the heart beat message sent through the SSNE Interface Message Processor. In addition, SSNE, as well as the SSNE Interface Message Processor, has one set of authentication mechanism respectively. It is necessary for BOSS, before sending MML, to send the authentication MML and get the authentication qualifications from SSNE and the SSNE Interface Message Processor.

2. After logging IMP, operator sends MMLs to NE. Furthermore, operator logs in to NE before sending a request. After sending MMLs, the operator exits from NE if further services are not required. The process of sending MMLs includes login and logout. 3. For unwanted NE services, the operator should log out from current NE first, and again log out from IMP. Figure 2 shows the communication flow of customer care system.

Chapter
An input MML command begins with the command code that specifies the function. If further information is required, operator inputs the parameter following the command code, separating them with the colon. The parameters are defined by the parameter block. If the parameter block includes two or more parameters, operator separates them with commas.
ZXSS10 SS1b (V2.0.1.06.1) SoftSwitch Control Equipment Server Billing Command User Guide
If both parameter name and parameter value are included in a parameter, then it is separated by equal mark. If without the parameter value, operator should remove the related parameter name and equal mark, as well as the comma following the parameter. If the parameter is omitted, then default value is taken into account. Also, if the parameter is not omitted, a parameter value is specified to indicate the default value. Some MML parameters require an array called parameter multi-instance. Instances are separated by the & character. For example, 5 & 9 indicates simple information unit (5 and 9). At two sides of the & character are values of same type. Parameters of structure type are called compound parameters. For example, Parameter CALLINGNUM is a compound one, which is made up by three simple-type fields (called virtual parameters). i.e., TDC (STRING type), TRG (WORD type), and MG (WORD type). The -character connects virtual parameters as follows. Here, 4580001 indicate TDC, 1 indicates TRG, and 2 indicate MG. The order for inputting the virtual parameters can not be altered.
CALLINGNUM =4580001-1-2
Parameters of a command can be mandatory, optional, or default. When the command is used, its mandatory parameters should be specified, the optional parameters are entered as required, and default parameters can be omitted (if so, system adopts its default value). For a STRING-type parameter, it is made up of a series of characters, including double quotation marks. For a DATE-type parameter, it is written in YYYY-MM-DD order. YYYY is made of four digits; MM is made up of two digits, while DD is made up of two digits. A hyphen is located between YYYY and MM, as well as MM and DD (such as 199701-16). For a TIME-type parameter, it is written in HH:MM:SS format. HH is made of two digits, ranging from 00 to 23, including 23; MM is made up of two digits, ranging from 00 to 59, including 59; SS is made up of two digits, ranging from 00 to 59, including 59 (such as 12:25:01). For a Date Time-type parameter, it is written in YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS format (such as 1997-01-16 12:25:01).
Chapter 2 Error! Use the Home tab to apply 1 to the text that you want to appear here.
ACK: DateTime: Command No: Result 1. An output MML command begins with ACK, indicating the response to an input MML. 2. For a DateTime-type parameter, it is written in YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS format, indicating the response time. 3. Command No. indicates the response to a MML. The results follow command number in RETN= [, DESC=] [, ID =, NUM=, RESULT=] format.
RETN is a mandatory option for results. 0 indicates the MML has been correctly executed, while other values indicate errors. For more details, see the error code meaning following each command. DESC, an optional parameter, explains the error code. [, ID =, NUM=, RESULT=], used to describe the record block, can be entered either for a single time or multiple times. Record blocks are separated by the && character. One record block corresponds to a table with several rows and columns. NUM indicates the number of records (i.e., the number of rows) of record block and An ID is allotted to every record block. Each MML returns the description of the record blocks in use, including formats of records (like related output parameters and their types). RESULT represents the actual data (records/rows) of the record block. Recodes are separated by the & characters. One record is made up of several parameters that are separated by semicolons.

Command automatically creates the subscriber, node, TID (only TID, rather than RTP, could be created under the AG), the nodes protocol attributes (including the packet template, default attribute template), subscriber call authority template, and register new service as well. The subscriber created via the command is one with the access gateway. Protocol types include H.248, H.323 and MGCP. Note: With regard to AG device, this command does not support the cross-subunit subscription in batch. Therefore, the maximum number of users in a batch of subscription is 32 (number of circuits in a subunit). Parameters

Parameter Description
Parameter NET is customized by the subscriber. For example, 1 indicates China Telecom. LATA indicates the area code. For example, the area code of Nanjing is 025. SDN1 and SDN2 represent start telephone number and end telephone number respectively. SDN2 is used only when the subscription is performed in batch. IPADDR represents the IP address of the terminal such as access gateway IAD or AG. DEVCODE is the device code (domain name, such as [202.202.202.202]) or MAC address (at this moment, the input format of the MAC address is MAC: 00:B0:D0:8F:D0:F0), of the terminal such as the access gateway IAD or AG. Select any of two parameters
12
Chapter 3 Error! Use the Home tab to apply 1 to the text that you want to appear here.
when a subscriber is defined. The parameter selection here depends on the gateway authentication mode. If the gateway has no authentication (with not only the IP address, but also the domain name), then select parameter IPADDR. If the gateway uses MGCP domain name authentication (with the domain name but without the IP address), at this moment, the protocol type of the node must be MGCP protocol or NCS protocol. Select parameter DEVCODE with the ordinary domain name format. If the gateway uses MAC address authentication (only with the MAC address without the domain name and IP address, and gateway protocol type is H248), select parameter DEVCODE with MAC address format.
PORTID represents the port number of IAD terminal, i.e. TID of subscriber line. DEVSTYLE represents the device type of terminal, which is used to identify a concrete device and viewed at SS side. ATTRMOD represents user template number. The user template number represents the collection of user attributes, including call authority template, subscriber billing category and terminal property etc. The subscriber digit analyzer is acquired from the gateway cluster corresponding to the hundreds group, rather than subscriber template. UNIT represents unit number of AG device, SUBUNIT is the subunit number, CIRCUITNO is the circuit number (the minimum value is 0). TYPE represents the enumeration value of service type for the user, is a multi-instance parameter (refer to Appendix). ENRIGHTO represents the enumeration value with outgoing call authority, is also a multi-instance parameter (refer to Appendix). ENRIGHTI represents the enumeration value with incoming call authority, is also a multi-instance parameter. Both service type and call authority data are defined at user template. If the data on the template does not meet the special requirements of users, Parameter TYPE, ENRIGHTI and ENRIGHTO are used to customize the service data or call authority data of users. DNMOD represents the number of the digit process template, which is a collection of basic attributes of subscribers, including the pre-analysis process, caller number conversion, and original called number conversion, etc. NODEID (an optional parameter) represents GWs node ID. NODEID is used only when the customer has some special requirements to specify the node of the equipment. When NODEID is sent after the 4210 command is executed, if the domain name and the IP address do not conflict with the nodes inside the SS, NODEID acts as the node ID of the user. And a new node is created with NODEID. USEMODDAS is used to decide the use of the digit analyzer for the user template. USEMODDAS=1 represents such digit
13
ZXSS10 SS1b (V2.0.1.06.1) SoftSwitch Control Equipment Server Billing Command User Guide
analyzer is used. Otherwise, such digit analyzer is not used. Instead, the digit analyzer of GW cluster with respect to hundreds group is validated.
DAS ranks the top priority if used to specify the digit analyzer of the user. In other words, DAS is used as the digit analyzer of the user if above 0, no matter how the USEMODDAS parameter is used. PORTTYPE represents the type of the carried number. NP is the carried number. PORTTYPE=1 represents no NP service, 1 represents portion, and 2 represents portout. TS is used to decide the use of the services at terminal side. WIMAX=0 indicates the non-WIMAX indicates the WIMAX subscriber. subscriber, and 1
AREAINFO, information regarding the area the WIMAX subscriber is located at, is used to search related module number in the roaming registration attribute module. AREA, the area code used to distinguish user templates, is meaningless. SIP302 is used to allow the terminal processing SIP 302 messages. If the terminal is allowed to process the SIP 302 messages, meanwhile, it is necessary to select services at the terminal side. SIP302=0 indicates the terminal is not allowed, and 1 indicates the terminal is allowed. REMARK, name of the node, is validated when an initial node is automatically created. However, REMARK is invalid for an already existent node.

Parameter Description
The detailed description of parameters NET, LATA, SDN1, SDN2, TYPE, ENRIGHTO and ENRIGHTI are the same as those of the 4210 command. ATTRMOD represents the user template number. The user template number represents the collection of the basic attributes of the user, including the call authority template, subscriber billing category and terminal property etc. For ATTRMOD, if the template is used when the subscriber is created, the digit analyzer of the subscriber template is used. If the template is not used or the digit analyzer is not configured in the template, the subscriber of the gateway cluster is used. AHREALM represents the certification domain name of the SIP user, which can be customized. PASSWD represents the password of SIP user account. SMS (for the SMS authority) is an optional parameter, which is added when the SMS function exists. 1 indicates the SMS authority exists, while 0 indicates not. URL (for the subscriber account) is an optional parameter, which is used according to the customer. When the 4190 command is sent, if URL is not configured, the SIP user account of the SS is automatically created based on other

customer care system commands, as well as SS data configuration. The URL format is sip: 0+Area Code+Subscriber Digit Number@the IP address of the SS. If URL corresponds to the SIP account when it is to be configured, the account is not created automatically. If the customer needs to write the account itself, or the format of the automaticallycreated account does not satisfy the customers requirements, URL is adopted.
NODEID (for the subscriber node) is an optional parameter, which is not a necessary one. NODEID is added if the subscriber is configured to the SS-specified node, considering the customers special requirements. When the 4190 command is sent, if the parameter does not exist, system selects a node automatically based on SS data configuration; otherwise, the node ID is selected for configuration. DAS ranks the top priority if used to specify the digit analyzer of the user. In other words, DAS is used as the digit analyzer of the user if above 0, no matter how USEMODDAS is used. PORTTYPE represents the type of the carried number. NP is the carried number. PORTTYPE=1-PORT IN represents NP must be entered. Otherwise, there is no need to enter NP. TS is used to decide the use of the services at terminal side. WIMAX=0 indicates the non-WIMAX indicates the WIMAX subscriber. subscriber, and 1
AREAINFO, the information regarding the area the WIMAX subscriber is located at, is used to search related module number in the roaming registration attribute module. AREA, the area code used templates, is meaningless. to distinguish subscriber
TYPE, enumerating values of the service types for users, represents a multi-instance parameter (refer to Appendix for its meaning). ENRIGHTO, the enumeration value with outgoing call authority, is also a multi-instance parameter (refer to Appendix for its meaning). ENRIGHTI, the enumeration value with incoming call authority, is also a multi-instance parameter. Both service type and call authority data are defined on the user template. If the data on the template cannot meet the special needs of users, these parameters are used to customize the service data or call authority data of users. V5ID represents an identifier of the V5 user. The interface ID, the solo number of the interface V5.2 in the access

network, is identified through the access network and the interface Q of the local switch.
ADDR1 represents the start address of the L3/EF address, while ADDR2 represents the end address of the L3/EF address. For the L3 address, the access network allocates a protocol address to each subscriber port. The LE side allocates a telephone number to each protocol address. Then, V5.2 protocol could correlate the subscriber ports with telephone numbers by matching the protocol addresses at two sides. The protocol addresses are co-determined by MD and LE. For the EF address, it is equivalent to the L3 address of the ISDN subscriber. The envelop address of the ISDN subscriber is allocated to each subscriber port. DID represents a reserved parameter. USER indicates the user type. 1 indicates the 2B+D user, 2 indicates the 30B+D user, and 3 indicates the PSTN user. USEMODDAS represents the use of the user template digit analyzer. USEMODDAS=0 represents no use, and 1 represents use. AREAINFO, information regarding the area the WIMAX subscriber is located at, is used to search related module number in the roaming registration attribute template. AREA, the area code used to distinguish user templates, is meaningless. CREATE_V5_SDN:NET=0,LATA=25,SDN=k'1230000,ATTRMO D=34,TYPE=1&2&3, ENRIGHTO=1&2&7,ENRIGHTI=3&4&5 ,V5ID=1,ADDR1=0, ADDR2=1,DID=1,USER=3; Meaning: Creates a batch of V5 users and ordinary users. If 1230000 and 1239991 ordinary users do not exist, the network type is created to 0 (current network), the area code is created to 25, and the user template is created to 34. After registration of users who enjoy the following services (call forwarding on busy, call forwarding on no reply, threeparty service), as well as are granted with the following authorities (outgoing rural call, domestic toll call, forwarding to the information console, incoming international toll call, trunk outgoing from SS local call, trunk outgoing SS rural call), the interface V5 is created with the identification 1. At the same time, the start address of L3/EF address is created to 0, the end address of L3/EF address is created to 1, the network type (current network) is created to 1, the area code is created to 25, the subscriber numbers are created to 1230000 and 1230001, the subscriber type is created to 3 (PSTN), and the V5 subscriber whose DDN is 1 is created.
