As we all know General Practice of Architecture includes planning and architectural design,
structural conceptualization, specifying, supervising, and providing general administration and
responsible direction. It also includes the addition or modification of buildings and building
environments, as well as architectural design in engineering structures or any part of them.
Furthermore, the scientific, aesthetic, and orderly coordination of all processes involved in the
construction of a complete building or structure via unbiased preliminary plans, consultations,
specifications, conferences, evaluations, investigations, contract documents, and oral advice. It
also includes directions whether the persons engaged in such practice are residents of the
Philippines or have their principal office or place of business in this country or another territory.

As stated in the RA9266 article 1 section 3 "Architect or person professionally and academically
qualified, registered and licensed under this Act with a Certificate of Registration and
Professional Identification Card issued by the Professional Regulatory Board of Architecture and
the Professional Regulation Commission" -this states that you can only perform practice of
architecture if you are registered and licensed. Persons who are practicing architecture without
the proper documents to prove they are licensed is considered illegal. And this may lead them
behind the bars for doing illegal practice.

I totally, agree with the Article stated from the Republic Act. As an Architecture student, this
will be beneficial for us in the future. It is rude for us or even to the registered professionals that,
there are still people who are practicing illegally. Illegal practitioners are creating bad images for
the real ones. They tend to make buildings that are structurally unstable and unsafe for humans.

I also want to point out that the engineer or architect who drew up the plans and specifications
for a building is liable for damages if the structure collapses within 15 years of completion due to
a defect in those plans and specifications or due to ground defect. In addition, they are also
required to fix all of the structural issues without fee or charges with the first few years of after
the completion. And by this, clients who are unfortunately hired an illegal practitioner may not
have this kind of service.
