EXPERIENCE OF THE INTERVIEWEE

INT - Interviewer
MOM - Interviewee
INT Good morning. I am Jose Angelo Lorica, interviewing my mother
(gestures to mother)
MOM Hello (waves to the camera)
INT And today, I will be asking her questions pertaining to her voting
experience. Okay, first question
MOM Yes(silence)
INT Umm How would you describe your voting experience?
MOM Umm the first time I voted was when I was in Sangguniang -Interview
Kabataan. I was just a candidate and a voter. Before, we had a voting exp
manual style of voting. We write the name of our chosen
candidates and we had a manual counting. I was very excited
that by voting, my voice would be heard and at the same time
apprehensive as to who would win the election
INT Right. Interesting. Next question. How does it differ from the
voting style back then from the now?
MOM Voting before uses the manual method, we write the names of -Contrast
our chosen candidates and the counting is also the manual voting
method. The teachers read the ballot one by one and it would experienc
take longer periods of time, from 3 pm to the wee hours . Now, between
we use computers, we just shade the circle opposite the names and now
of our chosen candidates, run it in the counting machine and
that’s it. Supposed to be, there is less mistake.
INT (hums) and another question.
MOM Okay.
INT Now… What do you think of the voting style that the Philippines
has now?
MOM Oh, ummm

that the Philippines has now, is quite advanced and I know it will contempo
continue to evolve and adapt according to what the situation in voting styl
the Philippines calls for

INT (writes on paper) Yeahhh… Next question, last because you still
have stuff to do (laughs)
MOM (laughs) Yeah, magluluto pa ako (laughs again)
INT RIght. Umm Do you think it needs a change? Or improvement on
how it does things now?
MOM Oh, ummmm is this a real question? (laughs)
INT (laughs) yes yes
MOM Ay (laughs) Umm yeah. I think the government, the commission -Suggestio
on elections should continue to do research and studies on how the Ph
to improve our voting system. voting sys
