August 19, 2022

Pursuant to Rule 1, 3 and 5A of the August 2022 Convention Rules, all duly elected precinct
delegates elected at the August 2, 2022 election will receive a call to convention from their local
county party and be eligible to vote on Delegates and Alternates to the State Convention on
August 27th.

The Hillsdale County Party leadership broke those rules by barring those duly elected precinct
delegates from attending the Hillsdale County Convention.

After being barred from entering the Convention, 61 duly elected precinct delegates met outside
of the Convention, elected a permanent chair, Brent Leininger, a permanent secretary and
followed the proper procedures for conducting a convention. Those minutes were submitted to
the Michigan GOP along with a list of 13 delegates and 13 alternates, all 26 of whom are
currently elected precinct delegates in Hillsdale County.

The Hillsdale GOP, Chaired by Daren Wiseley, also submitted a list of delegates and alternates.
Of 13 delegates just 5 were precinct delegates and of 13 alternates, just 4 were precinct
delegates. This is also a violation of the 10% ‘Hard Working Republican’ rule.

Hillsdale Republican County officials were informed, and they acknowledged that preventing
"duly seated delegates" from being seated would invalidate their convention.

In the Hillsdale GOP response a number of grievances were presented which the Michigan
Republican Party is willing to help resolve, however none of those grievances permitted the
clear violation of the rules that occurred.

Given that a clear supermajority of precinct delegates attended the alternate convention, and
the procedures of a proper convention were followed, the credentials committee is seating the
delegates and alternates submitted by Convention Chair Brent Leininger.

The list submitted by Chairman Daren Wiseley will not be seated and the elevated precinct
delegates at his convention are invalidated.
