Brief Description of Proposed Project

Faculty and staff at the University of Arizona Global Campus (UAGC) are providing supplemental materials to online students that are not
accessible to all students at the university, do not meet ADA requirements, and do not comply with the college's mission. Faculty have
expressed that they don’t know how to make learning materials accessible or don’t have time to take these extra steps. Some faculty also
express that they don’t understand why accessible content is needed for all the resources distributed to all students if they don’t have any
students with disabilities in their courses and because it represents a very small student population. Training faculty and staff in making
basic materials accessible to all online students will help improve the following:

 Materials in alignment with UAGC’s mission statement of accessibility

 Materials that meet ADA compliance
 Student inclusion in all learning materials and information distributed
 Faculty and staff understanding of the importance of accessibility

Delivery Method:

Online asynchronous course. Three weeks, self-paced. (This portion is two of three total weeks). This will be a professional
development activity for UAGC faculty and staff. The learning will be structured to allow faculty to share and build upon their
personal classroom experiences.

Terminal Objective: UAGC Faculty and staff will demonstrate an understanding of the significance and purpose of accessible
documents and learning materials in the classroom.
