Precautions & Guidelines:
Effects of Ultrasound:
o Unhealed fracture sites
 Increase vasodilation o Osteoporosis

 Decrease joint stiffness, pain, and muscle
spasm
 Promotes healing process Treatment should be discontinued:

Indications of Ultrasound: of function
 No (+) results after 12-15 sessions
o Adhesions and contractures  Patient symptoms are exacerbated
immediately after the treatment

Treatment Considerations:
o Muscle spasm
o Spasticity (common in heel cords) o Position the patient comfortably
o Tendinitis o The area to be treated must be exposed,

Contraindications of Ultrasound: o Examine the area to be treated and check
