• Understand the contributions of the early
civilizations that helped in the beginning of
science that we have now.

• Analyze what revolutions in science occurred in


several parts of the world like in Latin America,
East Asia, Middle East, and Africa.

3.1 The Philippine Government Science and
Technology Agenda
3.2 Programs and Personalities in Science and
Technology in the Philippines

• Examine the role of science and technology in


nation-building
• Analyze the contributions of government policies
on science and technology to the social and
economic growth of the country

Module 4:
4.1 Science and Technology in the Philippines
4.2 Indigenous Science and Technology in the
Philippines

• Identify government science and technology


programs to support science education in the
country

Module 5:
Human Flourishing
• Articulate one’s vision, justification, and criteria of
human flourishing
• Recognize the different dynamics of Buddhist
economics compared to materialist perspectives
• Compare this understanding from similar
concepts of human flourishing

Module 6:
Techne and Episteme
• Understand the sources of techne
• Understand the relationship between techne,
episteme, and physis
• Recognize the humanism behind the Greek
understanding of techne

Module 7:
The Good Life
• Understand the relationship between techne and
phronesis
• Understand the relationship between phronesis
and eudaimonia
• Recognize the relationship between techne and
eudaimonia

Module 8: Ethics and Values in Science, Technology


and Society
• Understand Heidegger’s understanding of
technology as enframing

• Recognize the duplicity of modern technology as


both a danger and a saving grace.
• Recognize what it takes to consider the saving
grace of technology

Module 9: The Information Age


• Discuss Information Age
• Outline the History of Information Age
• Spot truthful news from the fake news
• Explain instances of cyberbullying
• Cite the importance of Information Age in various
aspects of the society.

Module 10: Biodiversity and the Healthy Society


• Describe biodiversity and its components
• Discuss how biodiversity affects the health of the
society
• Cite factors and activities that destroy biodiversity
• Design a program that can help restore and
sustain biodiverse resources of the country

• Explain the impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the
Philippine biodiversity
• Develop values of loving, caring and helping
protect the Philippine biodiversity

Module 11: Genetically Modified Organisms:


Science, Health and Politics
• Define genetically modifies organisms
• Enumerate examples of commercially available
genetically modified crops or products made from
genetically modified materials
• Discuss the economic and health impact of GMOs
• Design an output that shows the future of GMOs
in the society.

Module 12: The Nanoworld


• Understand the relationship between techne and
phronesis
• Understand the relationship between phronesis
and eudaimonia
• Recognize the relationship between techne and
eudaimonia

Module 13: The Aspects of Gene Therapy


• Describe the gene therapy and its forms
• Assess the potential benefits and detrimental
effects of gene therapy to global health.
Module 14: Climate Change
• Identify the causes of climate change
• Evaluate the effects of climate change on the
society
• Design practical activities that will help mitigate
the negative impact of climate change in the
society

Dates for the Module

Learner Characteristics Students are expected to learn by having the


following characteristics:
• Problem and Issue Oriented- for them to see what
is to be done in attending to social issues with
regards to science and technology
• Interdisciplinary- must be able to grasp different
forms and sources of knowledge and information
• Can relate science to society- has the proper
disposition and can think outside the box in terms
of the effects brought about by science and
technology
• Has global Awareness- has the ability to adapt to
global issues such as population growth,
migrations, economic disparities, depletion of
resources, and international conflicts, that require
global learners to be aware of the world around
them.
• Has the ability to discern relevance of the subject
to everyday life- able to connect the real-world
issues, problems, and contexts outside the school
