The Genealogy Company Ltd – Terms & Conditions

Initial Consultation
A free initial consultation is offered to all potential customers. We will be honest about what we
are likely to find, our research methods, and your options should we not be able to help.

Payment
All costs shall be agreed at the initial consultation prior to work commencing. Payment is
requested up front where fees are below £200. Should fees be above £200, a payment plan
will be agreed and we request that payments are made at appropriate intervals in line with
work to date. Payment can be made via Cash, Bank Transfer or Cheque.

Additional Fees
On occasion, extra fees may become payable. This primarily arises when an original
Birth/Marriage/Death Certificate needs to be ordered (£11). Should a record not be present on
Ancestry or FindMyPast, but is found to be on another site which requires membership, we
shall inform you of this and make you aware of the costs involved to access the record.
Generally, a short term membership or one off fee will provide access and should not cost
more than £10-15. We provide this to you at cost and do not add any of our own access fees.

Complaints
We take complaints seriously. Please make all complaints in writing to
thegenealogyco@outlook.com and you will receive a response within 24 hours.

Should you, the customer, not be happy with our response and prospective solution, you shall
be entitled to a refund with respect to the work that you are unhappy with. You will be given
full online access to our work at the start of our engagement, and we, the company, request
that you let us know as soon as possible that you are not satisfied so that time is not wasted
researching what is not of interest to you which in turn maximises any refund entitlement.

Review Consultation
Once our work is complete, we will inform you of our findings and provide a report of what we
have found. Once this is given to you, it is yours to keep. We shall retain any correspondence
and information in line with UK GDPR for a short period of time before removing the
information from our systems. We do not pass on, or sell your personal information to anyone,
ever.

Summary
The Genealogy Company Ltd reserves the right to amend, update, change and/or re-word in
part, or in full, any part of our Terms & Conditions. By making payment to The Genealogy
Company Ltd, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full, unless prior agreement in writing
has been made. Our work is solely for your private and personal records. You may withdraw
from the agreement at any time by not making any further payments to us and by informing us
in writing that you no longer wish for us to continue research on your behalf. A pro-rata refund
or balancing payment may become due in lieu of payments already made or work already
done.
