The Elevations

Quran Chapter 7  Allah

 

In the name of Allah, the Kind, the Caring.

1. A. L. M. S.

2. A book was revealed to you, so have no anxiety because of

it. And warn with it. It's a reminder for believers.

3. Follow what was revealed to you from your Lord, and

follow no masters beside Him. Yet, you pay little attention.

4. How many cities did We destroy? Our Force struck them at

night or during their afternoon nap.

5. When Our power struck them, they pleaded: “We were

wrongdoers.”

6. We'll question those who received messengers, and we'll

question the messengers.

7. We'll tell them the story based on knowledge. We were

never absent.

8. The scales on that Day will be fair. Anyone with heavy

scales will be successful.

9. Anyone with light scales will lose themselves; because

they went against Our revelations.

10. We established you on earth, and We gave you the means

to live. But you don't thank much.

11. We created you, then shaped you, then said to the angels,
“Bow down to Adam.” So they bowed down, except Iblees,
who didn’t bow down.

12. He asked: “What prevented you from bowing down; when

I commanded you?” He answered, “I'm better than he: You
created me from fire, and You created him from clay.”

13. He said, “Come down from here, how dare you be

arrogant, so get out, you’re despised.”

14. He said, “Give me time, until Resurrection Day.”

15. He said, “You're given time.”

16. He said, “Since you led me astray, I'll ambush them on

Your straight path.

17. Then I'll come at them from the front, behind, the right,
and the left. And You’ll find most of them ungrateful.”

18. He said, “Get out of here, despised and outcast. Whoever

of them follows you; I'll fill Hell with you all.

19. And you, Adam, live with your wife in Paradise, and eat
what you please; but don’t come near this tree; otherwise,
you’ll be sinners.”

20. But Satan whispered to them, to expose them to their
nudity, which was invisible to them. He said, “Your Lord
forbade you this tree, lest you become angels or live forever.”

21. And he swore to them, “I'm a sincere advisor for you.”

22. Thus, by deception, he caused their fall. And when they

tasted of the tree, they became aware of their nudity, and
they began covering themselves with the leaves of the
Garden. And their Lord called out to them, “Didn't I forbid you
from this tree and warned you that Satan is your declared
enemy?”

23. They said, “Our Lord, we have sinned against ourselves.

Unless You forgive us and have mercy on us, we’ll be losers.”

24. He said, “Fall, some of you are enemies of one another.

On earth, you'll have a home and livelihood for a time.”

25. He said, “You'll live there. And in there, you'll die. And
from there, you'll come out.”

26. O Children of Adam: We provided you with clothing to

cover your bodies — and for beauty. But the garment of
righteousness is the best. These are some of Allah’s
revelations; so that they may pay attention.

27. O Children of Adam: don’t let Satan tempt you, as he

drove your parents out of Paradise, stripping them of their
clothes to expose their nudity. He and his type see you from
where you can’t see them. We turned devils into friends of
unbelievers.

28. When they do an indecent act, they say, “We found our

parents doing it, and Allah commanded us to do it.” Say,
“Allah never commands indecency. Are you saying about
Allah what you don’t know?”

29. Say, “My Lord commands justice. And be devoted in

places of worship. So call upon Him, and devote your faith to
Him. Just as He originated you, so you’ll return.”

30. He guided some, and others deserve misguidance. They

took the devils for masters instead of Allah, and they
presume to be guided.

31. O Children of Adam: Dress nicely when attending places

of worship. And eat and drink, but don't overdo it. He doesn’t
like the extreme.

32. Say, “Who forbade the fineries and pleasures of life Allah

that produced for His servants?” Say, “These are for
believers during the worldly life, but only for them on
Resurrection Day.” This is how We explain the verses to
those who know.

33. Say, “My Lord forbade indecency — open and secret —

and sin, and unwarranted aggression, and assigning partners
/
to Allah, a practice He never permitted, and to say about
Allah what you don’t know.”

34. Every nation has a fixed time. When their time has come,
they can't postpone it for one hour, nor can they bring it
forward.

35. O Children of Adam: Whenever messengers from among

you come to you, reporting to you My revelations — whoever
practices piety and reforms himself, has nothing to fear and
won’t grieve.

36. As for those who call Our Revelations lies, and are too
proud to accept them: these are the inhabitants of the Fire,
who remain there forever.

37. Who could be worse than someone who lies about Allah,

or denies His revelations? Such will have their share of the
decision. Until, when Our messengers come for their souls,
they will say, “Where are those whom you worshiped besides
Allah?” They will say, “They abandoned us.” And they will
testify against themselves that they were unbelievers.

38. He will say, “Enter the Fire with communities of demons

and humans who passed away.” Whenever a crowd enters, it
will curse its sister crowd. Until, when they're all there, the
last of them will say about the first: “Our Lord, these are the
ones who misled us, so double their punishment in the Fire.”
He will reply: “Everyone will receive double, but you don’t
know.”

39. The first of them will say to the last: “You have no

advantage over us, so taste the pain of what you earned.”

40. Those who reject Our revelations and are too proud to

accept them: The gates of Heaven won't open for them, nor
will they enter Paradise, until a camel can pass through the
eye of a needle. That’s how we repay the guilty.

41. They'll have a bed of hell, and above them are sheets of

fire. That’s how We repay the wrongdoers.

42. As for the believers who do good deeds — We never

burden a soul beyond its ability — these are the inhabitants
of Paradise, who remain there forever.

43. We'll remove all bad feelings from their hearts. Rivers will
flow beneath them. They'll say, “Praise Allah, Who has
guided us to this. If Allah had not guided us, we wouldn’t be
guided. Our Lord’s messengers came with the truth.” They'll
hear the call: “This is Paradise, awarded to you, for what you
did.”

44. The inhabitants of Paradise will call to the inhabitants of

the Fire: “We found what our Lord promised us to be true; did
you find what your Lord promised you to be true?” They'll
answer, “Yes.” Then it will be announced: “Allah's curse is on
the wrongdoers.”

45. “Those who hinder Allah's path, and seek to distort it, and
deny the Afterlife.”

46. There is a dividing wall between them. On the Elevations

are men who recognize everyone by their features. They'll
call the people of Paradise: “Peace be upon you.” They didn’t
enter it, but they're hoping.

47. When their eyes turn to the Fire people, they'll say, “Our
Lord, don’t place us with the wicked people.”

48. The inhabitants of the Elevations will call on men whom

they recognize by their features, saying: “Your hoardings and
arrogance didn’t benefit you.”

49. “Are these the ones you swore that Allah won't touch with
mercy?” “Enter Paradise. You’ll have no fear or sorrow.”

50. The Fire people will call to the people of Paradise, “Give

us water, or whatever else Allah gave you.” They'll say, “Allah
forbade them to unbelievers.”

51. Those who turned their religion into fanfare and play, and
were deceived by this life. So today, We’ll ignore them, as
they ignored their assembly on this day, and because they
rejected Our revelations.

52. We gave them a scripture that intelligently explains

things: guidance and mercy for believers.

53. Are they waiting for its fulfillment? The Day it's fulfilled,
those who ignored it will say, “Our Lord's messengers came
with the truth. Are there mediators to intervene for us? Or,
can we be sent back; to behave differently than we behaved
before?” They failed themselves, and what they invented
failed them.

54. Your Lord is Allah, who created heavens and earth in six

stages, then seated Himself on the Throne. He makes the
night cover the day, as it constantly follows it. His laws
govern the sun, the moon, and the stars. Creation is His, and
the command is His. Blessed be Allah, Lord of all beings.

55. Call on your Lord humbly and privately. He doesn’t like

abusers.

56. Don’t create conflicts on earth after it was made

peaceful. And pray to Him with fear and hope. Allah’s mercy
is close to the doers of good.

57. He sends the winds, which announce His mercy. Then,

when they have gathered heavy clouds, We drive them to a
lifeless land, and We send rain, and We bring all kinds of
fruit. Similarly, We bring out the dead — maybe you'll think.

58. Good soil produces crops with the permission of its Lord.

But poor soil brings hardship and misery. That's how We
explain lessons to grateful people.

59. We sent Noah to his people. He said, “O my people,
worship Allah; you have no other god but Him. I fear for you
the suffering of a terrible day.”

60. The dignitaries of his community said, “We think you're

mistaken.”

61. He said, “O my people, I'm not mistaken, but I'm a

messenger from the Lord of the Worlds.”

62. “I bring you the messages of my Lord, and I advise you,

and I have knowledge from Allah that you don’t have.”

63. “Are you surprised that a reminder has come to you from

your Lord, through one of your men, to warn you and lead
you to righteousness, so that you may receive mercy?”

64. They called him a liar, but We saved him and his followers
in the Ark, and We drowned those who denied Our
revelations. They were blind.

65. And to Aad, their brother Hud. He said, “O my people,

worship Allah; you have no other god but Him. Won’t you be
careful?”

66. The unbelieving elite of his community said, “We think

you’ve gone crazy, and we think you’re a liar.”

67. He said, “O my people. There is nothing crazy about me,

but I’m a messenger from the Lord of the Worlds.

68. “I bring you my Lord's messages, and I’m a trustworthy

adviser to you.”

69. “Are you surprised that a reminder has come to you from

your Lord, through one of your men, to warn you? Remember
that He made you successors after Noah’s people, and He
made your bodies strong. Remember Allah’s gifts, and you’ll
be successful.”

70. They said, “Did you come to us to make us worship Allah

alone, and abandon what our ancestors worshiped? So bring
us what you threaten us with — if you speak the truth.”

71. He said, “May condemnation and wrath befall you from

your Lord. Are you arguing with me over names that you and
your ancestors made up — a practice Allah never authorized?
Just wait; I’m waiting with you.”

72. So We saved him and his followers through Our mercy,

and We uprooted the unbelievers who called Our signs lies.

73. And to Thamud, their brother Saleh. He said, “O my

people! Worship Allah; you have no god but Him. Clear
evidence has come to you from your Lord. Here is the camel
of Allah, a sign to you. Let her graze on Allah’s land, and don’t
harm her, or you’ll be painfully punished.”

74. “And remember how He made you succeed Aad, and He

established you in the land. You build mansions on its plains, /
and you carve out houses in the mountains. So remember
Allah’s gifts, and don’t spread violence in the land.”

75. But the arrogant rulers said to the ordinary people who

believed: “Are you sure that Saleh was sent by his Lord?”
They replied, “We believe the message he was sent with.”

76. But the arrogant ones said, “We reject what you believe.”

77. Then they paralyzed the camel, ignored their Lord’s

commandment, and said, “O Saleh, bring whatever you
threaten us with; if you’re a messenger.”

78. And the earthquake overtook them, and they became

motionless bodies in their homes.

79. Then he turned away from them, saying, “O my people, I

have delivered my Lord’s message to you, and I advised you,
but you don’t like good advisors.”

80. And Lot, when he said to his people, “Do you commit

indecencies that no people before you ever committed?”

81. “You lust after men rather than women. You are excessive
people.”

82. But the answer of his people was, “Get them out of your
city; they are purists.”

83. So We saved him and his family, except for his wife, who
remained behind.

84. And We rained on them a rain. Look at the result of the

sinners!

85. And to Median, their brother Jethro. He said, “O my

people! Worship Allah! You have no other god but Him. Clear
evidence has come to you from your Lord. Give full measure
and weight, and don’t deprive people of their rights, and don’t
create conflicts in the land after it has become peaceful.
This is best for you: if you are believers.”

86. “And don’t sit by the side of the road, threatening and

preventing people from following Allah’s path and trying to
distort it. Think how few you were; and how He made you
many. And look at the fate of the corruptors!”

87. “Since some of you believe in what I was sent with, and

others don’t: have patience until Allah judges between us.
He's the Best of judges.”

88. The arrogant leaders of his community said, “O Jethro,

we'll expel you from our city, along with those who believe
with you, unless you return to our religion.” He replied, “Even
if we don’t want to?”

89. “We would be inventing lies about Allah if we returned to

your religion after Allah had saved us from it. We won’t return
to it; unless Allah, our Lord, wills it. Our Lord knows
everything. We put our trust in Allah. Our Lord, decide
/
between us and our people with justice, for You are the best
Judge.”

90. The unbelieving leaders of his community said, “If you

follow Jethro, you'll be losers.”

91. After this, an earthquake struck them, and they became

motionless bodies in their homes.

92. Those who rejected Jethro: As if they had never

prospered there. Those who rejected Jethro: They were the
losers.

93. Then he withdrew from them, saying, “O my people, I've

conveyed to you my Lord’s messages, and I advised you, so
why should I lament over unbelievers?”

94. We didn’t send a prophet to a community, but we

subjected its inhabitants to suffering and trials to humiliate
them.

95. Then, We substituted prosperity for hardship. Until, when

they flourished, they said, “Adversity and prosperity also
affected our ancestors.” Suddenly, We seized them,
unconscious.

96. If the people of the communities had believed and paid

attention, We would've opened to them the blessings of
heaven and earth. But they rejected the truth, so We seized
them by what they did.

97. Are the communities confident that Our Force won’t

come at them at night, while they sleep?

98. Are the communities confident that Our Force won’t

come at them during the day, while they play?

99. Do they feel protected from Allah’s plan? No one feels

immune to Allah’s plan except the losers.

100. Doesn’t this serve as guidance for those who inherited

the land after its inhabitants, that if We will, We can strike
them for their sins? And We seal their hearts, so they won’t
hear?

101. These communities: We tell you some of their stories.

Their messengers came to them with clear signs, but they
wouldn't believe what they rejected previously. That's how
Allah seals the hearts of unbelievers.

102. We found most of them not keeping their promises. We

found most of them corrupt.

103. After them, We sent Moses with Our miracles to Pharaoh

and his entourage, but they rejected them. Look at what
happened to the workers of corruption!

104. Moses said, “O Pharaoh, I'm a messenger from the Lord

of the Worlds.”

105. “I'm obliged to speak about Allah only the truth. I come
to you with clear evidence from your Lord, so let the
Israelites go with me.”

106. He said: “If you’ve come with a miracle, then show it, if
you speak the truth.”

107. Then he threw his staff, and it turned into a snake.

108. Then He pulled out his hand, and it was white to the

spectators.

109. The chiefs of Pharaoh’s people said: “He's a talented

magician.”

110. “He wants to expel you from your land, so what do you

recommend?”

111. They said, “Put him and his brother aside, and send
heralds to the cities.”

112. “And let them bring all the experienced magicians.”

113. The magicians came to Pharaoh, and said, “We'll

certainly be rewarded, if we're the victors.”

114. He said, “Yes, and you’ll be among my elite.”

115. They said, “O Moses! Either you throw, or we throw.”

116. He said, “You throw!” And when they threw, they

attracted people’s eyes, intimidated them, and produced
powerful magic.

117. Then, We inspired Moses: “Throw down your staff!” And

at once, it began swallowing what they pretended.

118. So the truth came to light, and what they produced was
nothing.

119. There they were defeated and humiliated.

120. And the magicians fell down, prostrating themselves.

121. They said, “We have believed in the Lord of the

Universe.”

122. “The Lord of Moses and Aaron.”

123. Pharaoh said, “Did you believe in Him before I let you?

This must be a conspiracy that you planned in the city, to
evict its inhabitants. You’ll find out soon.”

124. “I'll cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides. Then
I'll crucify you all.”

125. They said, “We're handing ourselves over to our Lord.”

126. “You take revenge on us only because we believed in our

Lord’s signs when they came to us.” “Our Lord! Pour patience
on us, and receive our souls in submission.”

127. The leaders of Pharaoh's people said, “Will you let
Moses and his people stir up trouble in the land, and
disregard you and your gods?” He said, “We'll kill their sons
spare their women. We have absolute power over them.”

128. Moses said to his people, “Turn to Allah for help; and be

patient. The land belongs to Allah; He gives it to whomever
He wills of His servants, and the future belongs to the
righteous.”

129. They said, “We were persecuted before and after you

came to us.” He said, “Perhaps your Lord will destroy your
enemy, and make you successors in the land; then He'll see
how you behave.”

130. We afflicted Pharaoh’s people with drought and crop

shortages, so that they may notice.

131. Whenever good fortune came their way, they said,

“We’ve earned this.” But whenever adversity befell them, they
considered it a bad omen because of Moses and those with
him. In fact, their bad omen is with Allah, but most of them
don’t know.

132. They said: “Whatever sign you bring us, to bewitch us

with, we won’t believe in you.”

133. So we unleashed on them the flood, locusts, lice, frogs,

and blood — signs explained — but they were arrogant. They
were criminal people.

134. Every time a plague struck them, they said, “O Moses!

Pray for us to your Lord, through the covenant He made with
you. If you remove the plague from us, we’ll believe you, and
we’ll send the Israelites with you.”

135. But when We removed the plague from them, for a term

they were to fulfill, they broke their promise.

136. So We took revenge on them, and We drowned them in

the sea — because they rejected Our miracles and paid no
attention to them.

137. And We made the oppressed people inherit the eastern

and western parts of the land that We blessed. Thus, your
Lord’s wonderful promise to the Israelites was fulfilled;
because of their endurance. And We destroyed what
Pharaoh and his people had built and harvested.

138. And We delivered the Israelites across the sea. But when

they came across people devoted to their statues, they said,
“O Moses, make us a god, as they have gods.” He said,
“You're an ignorant people.”

139. “What concerns these people is an abyss, and their

actions are based on lies.”

140. He said, “Will I seek for you a god other than Allah, when
He favored you over all people?” /
141. Remember when We rescued you from Pharaoh’s
people, who subjected you to cruel sufferings — killing your
sons and sparing your women. It was a great trial from your
Lord.

142. We set thirty nights for Moses, to which We added ten.

Thus, the time appointed by his Lord was forty nights.
Moses said to his brother, Aaron: “Be my deputy over my
people, and do what’s right, and don’t follow the path of the
wicked.”

143. When Moses came for Our meeting, and his Lord spoke
to him, he said, “My Lord, let me see you.” He said, “You won’t
see Me, but look at the mountain: if it stays in place, you’ll
see Me.” But when his Lord manifested Himself on the
mountain, He pulverized it, and Moses fell unconscious.
Then, when he regained consciousness, he said: “Glory be to
You, I repent to You, and I’m the first believer.”

144. He said, “O Moses, I have chosen you before all others

for My messages and My words. So hold fast to what I gave
you, and be thankful.”

145. We wrote for him on the Tablets all kinds of

enlightenment — and the decisive explanation of things.
“Hold fast to them, and urge your people to embrace the best
of them. I'll show you the houses of the sinners.”

146. I will turn away from My signs those who behave proudly
on earth without justification. Even if they see every sign,
they won’t believe it. If they see the path of good behavior,
they won’t follow it. If they see the path of bad behavior,
they'll follow it. This is because they denied Our signs and
paid no attention to them.

147. Those who deny Our signs and the meeting of the

Hereafter: their deeds will come to nothing. Won't they be
compensated for their deeds?

148. In his absence, Moses' people adopted a calf made of

their ornaments — a body that lowed. Didn’t they see that it
couldn’t speak to them or guide them in any way? They took
it for worship. They were wrong.

149. Later, after they regretted and realized their mistake,

they said, “Unless our Lord has mercy on us and forgives us,
we'll be losers.”

150. When Moses returned to his people, angry and

disappointed, he said, “What a horrible thing you did in my
absence. Did you abandon your Lord’s commandments so
quickly?” And he threw down the Tablets, and he grabbed his
brother by the head, dragging him towards him. He said,
“Son of my mother, the people overpowered me and almost
killed me, so don’t let the enemies gloat over me, and don’t
count me among the wrongdoers.”

151. He said, “My Lord, forgive my brother and me, and
embrace us with Your mercy: You're the Most Merciful.”

152. Those who idolized the calf incurred their Lord’s wrath

and humiliation in this life. This is how We repay the
innovators.

153. Those who commit sins then repent and believe — after

that, your Lord is Forgiving and Merciful.

154. When Moses’ anger subsided, he took the tablets. They

held guidance and mercy for those in awe of their Lord.

155. Then Moses chose seventy of his men for Our

congregation. When the tremor shook them, he said: “My
Lord, if you had willed, You could've destroyed them before,
and me too. Will You destroy us for what the fools among us
did? This is only Your trial — with it, You lead astray
whomever You will, and You guide whomever You will. You're
our Protector, so forgive us and be kind to us. You're the Best
Forgiver.”

156. “And write for us good in this world, and in the Hereafter.

We have turned to You.” He said, “My punishment: I inflict it
on whomever I will, but My mercy embraces all. I'll specify it
for those who act righteously, practice regular charity, and
those who believe in Our communications.”

157. Those who follow the Messenger, the untutored Prophet.

They find him described in the Torah and the Gospel. He
directs them to righteousness, deters them from evil, allows
them good things, forbids them wickedness, and relieves
them of the burdens and shackles that weigh upon them.
Those who believe in him, respect him, support him, and
follow the light that descended with him are the successful.

158. Say: “O people: I am Allah’s Messenger to you all — He to

whom belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth.
There is no god but He. He gives life and causes death.” So
believe in Allah and His Messenger, the Gentile Prophet, who
believes in Allah and His Words. And follow him, so that you
may be guided.

159. Among the people of Moses, there is a community that

guides with the truth, and with the truth, they establish
justice.

160. We divided them into twelve tribal communities. And

when his people asked him for water, We inspired him:
“Strike the rock with your staff.” And from there sprang
twelve springs, and each tribe knew its water point. And We
shaded them with clouds, and We sent them manna and
quails: “Eat of the good things We provided for you.” They
didn’t mistreat Us, but they mistreated themselves.

161. When they were told: “Settle this town, and eat whatever
you like, and speak modestly, and walk humbly through the
/
door. We’ll forgive you your sins and promote the good-
doers.”

162. But the wicked among them replaced the words given to

them with other words, so We caused a plague to descend
on them from heaven; because of the evil they did.

163. Ask them about the city by the sea; when they broke the
Sabbath. When they kept the Sabbath, fish appeared on the
surface. But when they broke the Sabbath, they didn’t appear.
Thus, We tried them — because they were disobedient.

164. When a group of them said, “Why do you preach to

people Allah will destroy or severely punish?” They replied,
“As a mercy from your Lord, and so that they may abstain.”

165. When they neglected what they were reminded of, We

saved those who forbade evil, and We seized those who did
evil with a terrible punishment — because they used to sin.

166. And when they stubbornly rebelled against the

commandment to abstain, We said to them, “Be despicable
monkeys.”

167. Your Lord declared: He will send against them, until

Resurrection Day, those who will inflict terrible suffering on
them. Your Lord is quick in punishment, and He is Forgiving
and Kind.

168. And We scattered them in communities on earth. Some

of them are righteous, and others fall short. And We tested
them with fortunes and misfortunes, so that they may come
back.

169. They were succeeded by generations who inherited the

Scripture. They indulged in illicit profits, claiming, “We'll be
pardoned.” And when similar profits came their way, they
would take them. Didn’t they make an oath to uphold the
Scripture, and to say about Allah only the truth? Didn’t they
study its contents? The Home of the Hereafter is better for
the cautious. Don’t you understand?

170. Those who adhere to the Scripture and practice prayer —

We won’t waste the reward of the reformers.

171. We suspended the mountain over them, like a shade,

and they thought it would fall on them: “Hold fast what We
gave you, and remember its contents, so that you may be
protected.”

172. And when Your Lord summoned Adam’s descendants,

and He made them testify about themselves. “Am I not your
Lord?” They answered, “Yes, You are; we testify.” So on
Resurrection Day, you won’t be able to say, “We knew nothing
about it.”

173. Or say, “It was our ancestors who associated, and we're
descendants who came after them. Will You destroy us for

the deeds of the forgers?”

174. Thus, We explain the revelations, so that they may come

back.

175. Tell them about the one to whom We delivered Our

messages, but he detached himself from them, so Satan
pursued him, and he became disobedient.

176. If We had willed, We would've elevated him through

them, but he clung to the earth and followed his thoughts.
His metaphor is that of a dog: if you chase him, he gasps,
and if you leave him alone, he gasps. This is the metaphor
for people who reject Our communications. So tell the
stories, maybe they'll think about it.

177. Terrible is the metaphor for those who reject Our

communications and wrong themselves.

178. Whomever Allah guides is guided. And whomever He

sends astray — these are the losers.

179. We destined for Hell multitudes of demons and humans.

They have brains with which they don’t think. They have eyes
with which they don’t see. They have ears with which they
don’t hear. These are like cattle, even dumber. These are the
unconscious.

180. Allah has the most beautiful names, so call Him by

them, and avoid those who blaspheme His names. They’ll be
repaid for what they did.

181. Among Our created beings, there is a community that

guides with the truth, and it establishes justice accordingly.

182. As for those who reject Our messages: We'll lead them
gradually, in ways they can't understand.

183. I’ll give them more time. My plan is firm.

184. Didn’t they think it over? There's no madness in their

friend. He's a clear warner.

185. Didn't they observe the government of the heavens and

the earth, and all the things that Allah created, and that their
end may be near? What message, apart from this, will they
believe?

186. Those whom Allah misleads have no guide. And He

leaves them blundering in their transgression.

187. They ask you about the Hour: “When will it be?” Say,
“Only my Lord knows. None but He can reveal its time. It
weighs heavily on the heavens and the earth. It will only
come to you suddenly.” They ask you as if you were fully
aware of it. Say, “Its knowledge rests with Allah,” but most
people don’t know.

188. Say, “I have no control over harming or benefiting myself,

except as Allah wills. If I had known the future, I would've

obtained much good, and no harm would've touched me. I'm
only a warner and bearer of good news to believers.”

189. He created you from one being, and He made its

companion from it, to find comfort in her. Then, when he has
covered her, she conceives a light load, and she carries it
around. But when she has grown heavy, they pray to Allah
their Lord: “If You give us a good child, we'll be appreciative.”

190. But when He gave them a good child, they assigned Him

partners in what He gave them. Allah is far beyond what they
associate.

191. Do they idolize those who create nothing and are

themselves created?

192. And they can’t help them, nor help themselves?

193. If you invite them for guidance, they won’t follow you. It’s
the same for you, whether you invite them or remain silent.

194. Those whom you worship besides Allah are worshipers

like you. So pray to them, and let them answer you, if you
speak the truth.

195. Do they have feet with which they walk? Or do they have
hands with which they hold? Or do they have eyes with which
they see? Or do they have ears with which they hear? Say,
"Pray to your partners, then plot against me, and don't wait.”

196. “My Master is Allah, Who revealed the Book, and He

protects the righteous.”

197. Those you call upon besides Him can’t help you, nor can
they help themselves.

198. And if you invite them for guidance, they won’t hear. And
you see them looking at you, but they don’t see.

199. Be tolerant, command decency, and avoid the ignorant.

200. When a temptation from Satan assails you, seek refuge

in Allah. He's Hearer and Knower.

201. The righteous: When an impulse from Satan assails

them, they remind themselves, and at once, they see clearly.

202. But their brethren relentlessly drag them into error, and

they don't stop short.

203. And if you don’t produce a miracle for them, they say,

“Why don’t you improvise one?” Say, “I follow only what’s
inspired in me by my Lord.” These are insights from your
Lord, guidance, and mercy for believers.

204. When the Quran is recited, listen to it and pay attention,

so that you may experience mercy.

205. Remember your Lord within yourself, with humility and

reverence, and quietly, morning and evening, and don’t be
negligent.

206. Those in your Lord’s presence aren't proud to worship
Him. They recite His praises and bow before Him.
