JOHNNY’S SUPERMARKET
As a compulsory performance task, our teacher, Mrs. Engracia Ursal instructed
us to conduct some observational study about a certain supermarket’s customer
behaviour in buying products specifically in Personal hygiene or personal care section.
In assurance of the credibility and honesty, our group decided to observe Johnny’s
Grocery Store here in Angeles City near McDonalds in front of Holy Rosary Parish. The
store is very popular due to its environment and good service as well as products
among other merchandising supermarkets here in Angeles City. As we conduct the
observation, we have divided our group into partners or triad that will be conducting at
the supermarket one at a time. In that action, we can minimize the disturbance inside
the store and we can make sure that our observation will be confidential and sensitively
secret. We have noticed that teenagers mostly patronize personal care products such
as shampoo, soap and skin care products. In addition to that, people have different
ways in choosing what they will consume in terms of what they needs and wants. And
they choose according to:

PRIMARY NEED IN THEIR HOUSEHOLDS

- People go to the supermarket to buy their cleaning or sanitizing tools and
products to clean their houses and their belongings. This is a primary need
because every household should be clean and sanitized. People need this to
clean not only their household but also their selves.
THE POPULARITY OF THE PRODUCT
- People or consumer pick and patronize a certain product based on whether it is
popular or it is used by many people around them. A product becomes popular
when a famous actor/actress advertise it in a catchy and unique way or
sometime peers around the consumer can be the factor why he/she buy and
patronize a certain product.

THE PRICE OF THE PRODUCT

- In the Philippines, the citizens are known to be “practical” in terms of budgeting
for their everyday needs. And in terms of buying, most of them prepare the
cheapest product they can avail in any leading grocery stores because they
believe that they may be different in price but in terms of usage it is only the
same.

DISCOUNT, PROMOTIONS AND FREEBIES

- “Buy 1, Get 1 for free”, “In every 1 pack, get 1 free sachet for ” this signs
sometimes attract consumers because we all know that people are practical and
they want to have more supply and with lower price. This is a great way to
market or sell your products. Many customers will surely buy your products.

QUALITY OF PRODUCT
- People choose quality of products so that they are satisfied what possible
outcome they can get on the product that they choose to buy and use. They can
get benefits on the chosen product. They can use the product for own purposes.
The product is fit on what they need. The customer ensure if the product is worth
to pay. The customers want to make sure if the product is not only for attraction
but it is also useful in their daily lives.
