Basic Functions of Management

Planning – directs all the preparation that allows the organization to run effortlessly. Engages
mapping out exactly specific objectives and determining the most valuable course of
action required to achieve those objectives.

Organizing – process of making certain that required human resources are on hand to execute a
plan and attain organizational goals and objectives. It engages the assignment of
activities, division of work and identification of who has the authority to carry out
certain tasks.

Staffing – directs every part of recruitment and personnel requirements of the organization. Its
purpose is to employ the right people for the right jobs to realize the objectives of the
organization.

Leading – involves motivating, communicating, guiding, and encouraging people in the organization
for the achievement of its goals and objectives in a timely manner. A good leader inspires
employees, heightens morale and promotes effective communication amongst
employees.

B. ABSTRACTION: Given the importance of each function, do you think an organization will be
stable and work if one of these function/s is missing?

II. PERFORMANCE TASK 01: Create a “New You”


This activity will see how the student sees him/herself, what makes
them a different and unique individual, which can boost their
confidence and is an essential trait of a good manager.

III. INSTRUCTIONS: What you will need:

Regular sized cartolina (any color)


Coloring/writing materials
Old photos, magazines, books, newspapers
Colored papers
Scissors
Glue/paste

What you will do:


Make a mosaic collage of yourself.

Cut-out any picture from the magazines, books, or newspaper of


your most favorite things to do, foods you like, pets, and whatever
else that interests you.

On the cartolina, paste them together creating an image of yourself.

At the bottom, make a brief explanation of your work. What made


you create an image like you did, how do you see yourself, and what
makes you different and unique to others.
