Term 2
Subject: Science (086)
Time: 2 Hours Max. Marks: 40
General Instructions:
1. All questions are compulsory.
2. The question paper has three sections and 15 questions. All questions are compulsory.
3. Section–A has 7 questions of 2 marks each; Section–B has 6 questions of 3 marks each; and Section–C has 2
case based questions of 4 marks each.
4. Internal choices have been provided in some questions. A student has to attempt only one of the alternatives in
such questions.
SECTION A
1. Observe the electronic configuration of element. Find the group and period.
2. Element A has a higher atomic number than element B. Still, Electronegativity of the element A is less than
B.
Explain how this could be possible.
3. Shrish had purple flower of the pea plant. How can he determine whether it is pure purple or hybrid purple?
4. The diagram below shows the female reproductive part (whorl) of a plant during fertilisation.
OR
a) Trace the path of sperm from formation to fertilization.
5. Hari collected dark green filamentous structures and mount on a slide. Identify the organisms and mention
mode of reproduction. How is it different from reproduction through seed?
OR
7. In food chain of grass Grasshopper Frog Snake, What happens if the population of frog is vanished
from ecosystem?
OR
In food chain of grass Grasshopper Frog Snake, if grass has 5000 joule energy only 5 j energy is
obtained by Snake. Why?
SECTION B
8. Which of the following groups is/are the member of homologous series? Justify with reason.
OR
Identify the following gas and draw electron dot structure of that gas.
10. How does an increase in atomic size affect Electronegativity? Explain with a description of how you interpret
the given data.
11. Gamete has “n” set of chromosome but endosperm of some angiosperm plants has 3n set of chromosome.
How is it possible? Explain the process with diagram.
12. Three resistor having 10 Ω in each connected with 3 cells having 5 volt in each. Find out the reading of
Ammeter in both the cases.
14. Both the energy and mineral nutrients are continuously being transferred in the biosphere. Do these two
differ in their direction of transfer? What special points are noteworthy in respect of transfer of energy at
which step?
SECTION C
15. Sahil conducted an experiment on pea plants. In which, pure breeding pea plants with green pods were
crossed with pure breeding pea plants with yellow pods. He found that all the F 1 generation plants have
green pods. Then he interbred the plants from F 1 generation.
a) What colour of pods will be observed in F 2 generation plants? Explain with a cross.
b) The genotype for the colour of the pod of a pea plant is Gg. What conclusion may be drawn from
this?
c) Why Sahil selected garden peas as his experimental material? Give two reasons.
OR
c) List two contrasting visible characters of garden pea Mendel used for his experiment.
16. In a school laboratory, shikha was performing an activity. She started with an insulated copper wire
that she wrapped as coil of many turns such that it takes the shape of a cylinder. Then, she drew the
following diagram based on her observations. Answer the following questions.
a) Write the special name given to the coil AB which has many circular turns of insulated copper
wire.
b) State the nature of magnetic field inside AB when a current is passed through it.
c) Redraw the diagram and sketch the pattern of magnetic field lines through and around AB.
OR
List two factors on which the strength of the magnetic field produced by AB depends.
