To the facilitator
In this lesson, you are to guide the child in identifying their
body parts and saying the correct name of each body part. The
activity will give the child the confidence to know his/ her body parts
and be able to appreciate the parts of his/ her body. You are to teach
the child where his/ her eyes, ears, nose, mouth, head, shoulders,
knees and toes. Follow the steps below:

1. Model Identifying the Body Parts by pointing or touching each body part
Prepare the song, “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”.
Say: I have here a song entitled “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”. You will listen to the
song first and watch as I will do the action. (Demonstrate/ show it first to the child)
We will sing the song and simply touch the parts of your body with both hands in
time with the song.

Sing:
Head, shoulders, knees and toes,
Head, shoulders, knees and toes,
Eyes and ears and mouth and nose,
Head, shoulders, knees and toes.

2. Ask:
 Do you know the parts of your body? What are the parts of the body mentioned in the
song?
 Where is your head? Can you point it to me?
 Where are your shoulders? Can you point it to me?
 Where are your knees? Can you point it to me?
 Where are your toes? Can you point it to me?
 Where are your eyes? Can you point it to me?
 Where are your ears? Can you point it to me?
 Where is your mouth? Can you point it to me?
 Where is your nose? Can you point it to me?
 Do we need to take good care of our bodies? How do we take care of our bodies?
 Let the child repeat the singing of the song with gestures.

3. Guided Practice

Guide the child in identifying the body parts following the song provided in the modelling.

4. Independent Practice

4.1 Let the child sing the song.


4.2 Let the child practice by pointing or touching the parts of the body with both hands while
singing the song to master the learning competency.
4.3 Together with the child, play a “Q and A” activity that will require him/her to point or touch
the body parts learned in this lesson. Ask the questions randomly in different order to check
if the child fully understands the lesson.

an important part of development.
