Description and Common Varieties _____________________________________

Sweet potato (Ipomoea batatas) or “yam” is locally known as _____________________________________
“camote” in the Philippines. The tuberous root is long and tapered, _____________________________________
with a smooth skin whose color ranges between yellow, orange, red,
brown, purple, and beige. Its flesh ranges from beige through white,

red, pink, violet, yellow, orange, and purple. Sweet potato varieties _____________________________________
with white or pale yellow flesh are less sweet and moist than those _____________________________________

with red, pink or orange flesh. Sweet potato is used as food, feeds,
and raw materials for processing. It is rich in carbohydrates, protein,
potassium, dietary fiber and vitamins. _____________________________________

• VSP 1, VSP 3 and VSP 5 and VSP 7 for ketchup, jam, beverage, and

determines the changes in price over time.
