NARRATIVE REPORT

REGIONAL I RESEARCH LABORATORY SKILLS TRAINING, WORKSHOP AND

ENCAMPMENT
(May 26 - 28, 2022)

The Bureau of Fisheries & Aquatic Resources, Asian Fisheries Academy, Bonuan
Binloc Dagupan City In cooperation with the Association of Science Club Advisers of
SDO Pangasinan II announces the holding of the Regional I Research Laboratory Skills
Training, Workshop & Encampment with the theme: Science and Laboratory
Advancement: Enhancing Quality of Life through Manipulative Laboratory Skills,
Strategic BFAR-NFDC, Bonuan Binloc, Dagupan City on three batches from May 19 to
June 04, 2022.
I have participated in the second batch of this seminar dated on May 26-28, 2022
and have gained various insights on scientific research that would foster analytical mind
of teachers as well as the students.
The objectives of the said event includes the following: First, undertake scientific
research that will develop the youth and teacher’s creativity, analytical mind and
integrity; Second, apply learned science and technology concepts and principles; Third,
provide venue for intellectual and social interaction among students and teachers, and
lastly create an atmosphere of competitiveness and excellence towards achieving
scientific skills and attitudes.
The day 1 of the training seminar started with the opening program lead by the
organizers and stakeholders who have welcome all the student and teacher
participants. We were welcome by Dr. Dennis D. Tanay, the chief of BFAR NFDC,
followed Sir Westly R. Rosario, the chairperson of Professional Regulatory Board of
Fisheries Technology. After which is the presentation of delegates, Research
proponents, guest and facilitator by no other than Dr. Arturo S. Blanco, Training
Manager and lastly Ms. Nerafe C. Muyalde, Senior Aquaculturist III has provided the
house rules for the encampment.
The second part of the Training Workshop is the training proper where the
lecturers who are expert in their respective field. The first lecture is entitled: Research
Topics and Scientific Processes by Dr. Dennis D. Tanay, the Chief, BFAR NFDC. The
second topic was delivered by John Carlo C. Gosilatar, a Microbiology Technical Staff,
who discuss the topic on Fish Technology for Food Security. After which is a workshop

on Fish technology specifically on Tahong Chips Making by Miss Rizalina C. Bautista,

Technical Staff. On the other hand, Angelica Venus M. Cancillar, Aquaculturist I of
Molubicus Department provided a lecture and workshop on Biotechnology- Tocino
Making/ Siomai Industry.
The third part of the training workshop was the conduct of simultaneous
contests participated by the students coming from various schools.
This training workshop is really of great help for us teacher to have a
professional growth and also help create an effective learning environment through
strategic planning and research.
