What is /r/Pics?
/r/Pics is a place to share all kinds of photographs and pictures. Feel free to post your own, but
please read all of the below rules first. Also, please note that we are not a catch-all community for all
images. (Comics, maps, and screenshots are not allowed, for example.)

Rules:
Rule 1: No Screenshots
No screenshots. No pictures wherein the only focus is a screen.
Pictures which include screens can be permitted, but said screens must not be the sole or primary
foci of the photographs.
"Added text" is extended to all drawings, whether done digitally or by hand. A hand-drawn comic
with text, for example, would be removed, whereas as a photograph of a person holding a sign
would be allowed.
We also allow faces and anything else you may consider to be personal information to be blurred,
boxed out, or otherwise covered.
Pornography
Artistic nudity (NSFW link) is allowed, but must be tagged with "NSFW."
If genitals are displayed within a photograph, it will generally be treated as pornography, but this is
up to the discretion of the acting moderator.
Gore
No pictures which include excessive blood or inside-the-flesh details made visible via any form of
laceration.
This includes anyr/pics
pictures which depict the results of violent or injurious acts that we feel are not

appropriate.
Personal information includes (but is not limited to) names not in the public domain, names in
yearbooks, invoices, receipts, identifying account-numbers, home addresses, or telephone numbers.
Even if an address or telephone number is publicly available, avoid putting it in any of your
comments for any reason.
For spam-related and doxxing-centric reasons, we do not allow direct links to any social media sites
other than Twitter. However, we do allow comments to mention social media handles, provided that
no links are included.
Please don't post any missing/found posts for people or property. Try your local subreddit for that.
As license plates are public information, we do not regard them as personal information.
You can upload your picture either directly to Reddit or to one of the following image-hosts:
Imgur.com, Flickr.com or 500px.org.
Additionally, we allow any direct link to a picture, provided that the URL ends in .png, .jpg, or .jpeg.
Rule 8: Civility
We enforce a standard of common decency and civility here. Please be respectful to others.

Inappropriate behavior or content will be removed and can result in a ban. This includes (but is not
limited to) personal attacks, fighting words, or comments that insult or demean a specific user or
group of users.
Bigotry, hate, and racism are not allowed. We are a strictly anti-bigotry community. Any explicit or
implicit racism or slurs (such as referencing crime statistics as a justification for racism, intentional
misgendering, or identifying a whole group by the bad behavior of single individuals) can lead to the
removal of your comment and the banning of your account.
We allow and welcome the discussion of controversial topics. However, we expect that everyone
participates in good faith and not with the intent to troll or spread bigotry.
Any comments that advocate, make fun of, or glorify violence, death, or suicide are against our and
Reddit's site-wide rules, and will therefore result in a permanent ban.
Optimally, the level of discourse here should be at the level you'd find between you and your
teacher, or between you and professional colleagues. Obviously, we're going to allow various types
of humor here, but if it would make someone you respect lose respect for you, then you're best off
avoiding it.
We also have a zero-tolerance policy towards COVID misinformation. Anyone engaging in such
behavior will be banned.
Please be aware that uncivil comments against public figures – especially politicians – are mostly
exempt from the incivility-specific part of this rule.
Progress pictures are only prohibited if they show clear health progress or achievement. For
example, before-and-after pictures of weight-loss, sobriety, or muscle-gain are not allowed, whereas
images showing a person's young self and old self are allowed, as getting older isn't health-progress
or achievement.
Standalone images of medals, tokens, certificates, and awards are similarly disallowed, save for
when the items are being presented as historical curiosities.
Examples:
Not Allowed
Title: My grandmother got to ring the bell at Saint Lucifer's Hospital today!
Post: Picture of a woman
in a wheelchair ringing the cancer-free bell.
False claims of ownership (FCoO) – posting pictures that aren't yours but pretending like they are –
will result in a ban. Please be aware that using the OC tag or writing [OC] in the title is considered
FCoO unless the content is 100% produced(taken, drawn or made) by you.
Flooding (more than four posts in a rolling twenty-four-hour window) will also result in a ban.
To keep our subreddit fresh and to avoid having the same content constantly pop up, we currently
remove reposts of images that are currently on the front page of /r/Pics.
Additionally, we remove reposts of the top 25 images posted this year, and the top 50 of all time.
Content-creators are only allowed to offer one self-promotional link per post. Breaking or
circumventing this rule may result in temporary or permanent bans.
Accounts that exist solely to advertise or promote will be banned, regardless of how or where the
promotion itself occurs.
Examples of unacceptable self-promotion include (but are not limited to) the following:
More than 10% of an account's total posts are to sites or channels which they own or operate.
An account has a stickied or otherwise highlighted piece of self-promotion on its profile page.
More than 10% of an account's standalone comments include links or references to external
content.
An account offers frequent or repeated calls to follow them.

Bots of any kind are not allowed, as they clutter comment sections and are usually more spam-like
than helpful.
Additional/Temporary Rules
Serial reposters may be filtered or banned.
We prefer that new users post original content, not pictures sourced from the Internet.
Reposting as a very new account might get you banned.
All posts by new users require moderator approval. This is an anti-spam measure.
Please mark spoilers like this: >!text here!< Click/tap to .
We are using a bot to automatically ban anyone who participates in the NoNewNormal
subreddit. This is being done because brigades are regularly organized there, and
misinformation about COVID is then spread in our community.
Information
If you think that your post has disappeared, or if you see spam or an inappropriate post or
comment, please do not hesitate to either press the report button or contact us via the moderator
mail by clicking here. We're happy to help.
The community works much better when everyone works together to keep the place running as
smoothly as possible.
