LEGGINGS & DRAPING

-
DRAPING is a piece of cloth placed over the
patient’s body during delivery or
operation.
PURPOSES:
1. Cover the patient to create a sterile barrier

2. Maintain a sterile field throughout the procedure

3. Prevent migration of microbes from nonsterile to


sterile areas
PRINCIPLES:

▪ Draping is always done from sterile


area to an unsterile area and by
draping nearest first

Folding drapes for use
• Drapes should be folded so that the
gowned and gloved members of the
