 NBS CARC Objective

o Maximizing productivity and profitability through optimum utilization of local human and
natural resources
 NBS CARC Activities for achieving the objective
 Establishment of NBS Co-operative Agri Resource Centre at Village Jamal,
Union Council Manghot, Tehsil Gujar Khan, District Rawalpindi for Pothohar
Region to provide services in agriculture fields, like agriculture, poultry,
livestock, etc.
 Organizing training and capacity building events to comprehend the
philosophy of the NBS CARC and learning about their feedback and improving
the strategies (with different intervals for updating the knowledge of all
stakeholders)
 NBS CARC develops mechanism to assess the local human and natural
resources potential to initiate agricultural business initiatives according to the
assessed results so that the financial losses can be minimized
 NBS CARC provides services for the soil analysis to assess the ration of
organic content and other micro nutrients for improving the soil fertility to
enhance organic productivity
 NBS CARC customized services to each farmer to assess the potential of
ongoing agricultural activities and possibilities of introducing agro technologies
new to the area with maximum profit possibilities. This exercise includes to
facilitates farmers to develop appropriate landscaping
 Organizing different technical training courses with the cooperation of Sardar
Memorial Eco-Solutions Trust (SMET) “NBS Corporate Social Responsibility
Wing” for new interventions and updating the knowledge about the organic
agricultural techniques
 Mobilizing local farmer communities with partnership of SMET to facilitate
farmers to learn the farm management approaches to use borrowed funds from
financial institute to scale up their agri-businesses, the approach emphasizes to
maintain the cycle of borrowing and repaying
 NBS CARC linkages with National and International Development
Agencies through SMET for introducing different development interventions
for male and female farmers, these can be farmers skill development, training
for social behavior improvement, exchange visits to model farms, etc.

 Establishment of NBS Co-operative Agri Resource Centre agricultural

products sale point (includes inputs and outputs) at Sukhu More market, Union
Council Manghot
o Provision of standardized seed, fertilizers, equipment and other
agricultural implements for sustainable agricultural practices
o The NBS CARC Sale Centre will also provide the facility to farmers
for selling their agricultural output at the sale Centre, the Sale Centre
under the supervision of NBS CARC packs and send to urban super
markets in standard packing for sale

 NBS CARC Coordination Role (Functions)

NBS ACRC performs its coordination functions to boost up the agricultural business activity of
the region.

o Developing linkages with financial institutes through NBS ACRC to encourage and
promote farmers’ agricultural business activities from traditional agricultural
practices
 Establish social, land value as collateral, NBS and other stakeholders’
guarantees to manage for the provision of loans to scale up agricultural
production for commercial scale
 Involvement of local administration and resource full people for smooth
processing and facilitation in provision of loan and in recovery
o Encouraging private investors to develop viable agro-projects with local farmers and
NBS CARC to initiate sizable corporate projects
o Mobilize local farmers to develop joint ventures among themselves with NBS CARC
to generate financial, technical and other resources to develop agro business
initiatives
o Establishing linkages with government and private research institutes for continuous
knowledge updating to improve productivity and profitability
o Promote linkage with international research and development institutes to promote
new and upgraded verities and practices of the agro fields. It includes technical
improvements in technology and social mechanisms to improve co-operative
systems as well.
o Organizing study visits to model farms, research institutes and educational institutes
for enhancing knowledge in the professional agricultural field
