NATIONAL READING MONTH AND NATIONAL BOOK DEVELOPMENT MONTH CELEBRATION (NOVEMBER 2021) ‘This Division All Districts In-charge All School Heads All others Concerned In support to the National Reading Month, Library Information Services Month and National Book Development Month Celebration, this Office, through the Curriculum Implementation Division-Learning Resource Management Section (CID- LRMS) announces the conduct of the National Reading Month and the National Book Development Month Celebration in the month of November 2021. The activity shall be held at the Baybay City Development Educational/Learning Center, 30 de Deciembre St. , Baybay City, Leyte. ‘The activity aims to: a. b. celebrate November as the National Reading Month and National Book Development Month; promote full awareness and understanding of the role of reading and literacy in cultivating the critical thinking skills of learners; retool, reskill, and upskill language teachers about the current trends of reading pedagogy streamlined to emerging technologies and the issues and aims of the 21° century leafning design; exhibit/showcase the contextualized learning resources, storybooks and reading materials, and other supplementary learning resources in print or digital formats developed by teachers in the Schools Division of Baybay City; and emphasize the role of solid partnerships among the government, private institutions, writers, publishers, and educators in improving Filipino learners reading and literacy skills. ‘The management is compose of the following: a. Showcase of originally developed cBooks, Multi Media Stories and video lessons & Book Donation Campaign ‘The mechanics and guidelines for each activity are: a. National Reading and Book Month Webinar Series 1. This activity is intended for Education Program Supervisors, District In-charge, school administrators, educators, reading and literacy enthusiasts and advocates and teachers. 2. The activity will be conducted every Saturday of November (November 6, 13, 20 and 27, 2021) from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. 3. The webinar series observes an open registration and will be streamed. live through the following social media accounts: https: / / www.facebook.com/depedtech (Facebook) hittps://www.youtube.com/c/DepEdPhilippines (YouTube) https: / / www. youtube.com/c/EducationalTechnologyUnit (YouTube) 4. A Certificate of Recognition will be given to each participant for attendance in every session, and a Certificate of Recognition will be given for successfully attending the whole webinar series. through the DepEd Professional Development-Learning Management System (PD- LMS). 5. Gaas, Baybay City, Leyte (53) 563-7615 baybay.city @deped.gov.ph 180 9001:2015 Certified b, co Learning Resource Product Exhibit (Division and School-based) 1, Each District and schools shall exhibit the best practices, programs, projects and products of teachers relative to Learning Resources Management, and Development Processes (LRMDP) and its utilization. 2. Products for exhibit may be composed of locally developed instructional materials, teacher-made reading _portiolio, contextualized learning resources in print and digital formats, strategic intervention materials, and other supplementary learning resources produced by teachers. 3. The exhibit for each district shall be held at Hall B of the BDEC with an assigned area of 1 m x 1.5 m. 4. The school-based exhibit shall be at the school library or in the LRA of the school. This shall be monitored by the CID Personnel, selected district coordinator of each subject and the district LR coordinator. ‘Schedule for monitoring shall be announced later. 5. Each District and the schools shall start the setting up of the booth in the 1* week of November, 2021. The Opening of the National Reading Month and Book Development Month Celebration will be on November 8, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. and its culmination will be on December 1, 2021. 6. Special awards will be given for this activity such as the following: -Most Organized Exhibit of Learning Resources (Division and School) -Most Creative Booth (Division Level only) 7. A Certificate of Participation will be given to all participating districts and schools. Reading Program/Project Exhibit and Presentation ‘The purpose of this activity is to present the best reading program /project of the district in this time of pandemic for bench marking by other districts, or schools. 1. Each District shall display the best reading program /project. ‘This can be done by displaying photos and documentations in the booth or using tarpaulin or fliers for the details of the program. 2. Only the existing and ongoing reading program shall be presented in this activity. A S-minute video presentation of the reading program shall be submitted to the committee on the November 22, 2021 for judging. 3. The rest will be given a Certificate of Participation. . Tell in Tandem: Research-based Interactive Storytelling Contest ‘This activity aims to provide an opportunity for the Filipino family to develop the love of books and feading'and enhance their presentation and’ communication skills through tandem storytelling. 1. The contest is open to all filipino parents and their children ages 5-10 who are residing within the City of Baybay. 2, The contest shall be performed by a Parent (Mother or Father) and his/her child. Only two members of the family are allowed to participate and only one entry per family per district. 3. The entry must be a storytelling video in Sinugbuanong Binisaya. 4. Only storybooks approved and published by the Division LRMS shall be used. (a list of approved storybooks will be posted for this activity) 5. The storybook shall be featured in the video and storytellers shall mention the title, author and illustrator of the storybook at the beginning of the presentation. 6. The use of graphics, animations and video editing applications are allowed. 7. The video must not exceed 8 minutes and must be submitted to the Division LRMS in mp4 format with 480p resolution on or before November 26, 2021. 8. There will be three winners for this contest and each shall receive a Certificate of Recognition. 9. All participants shalll be given a Certificate of Participation. ¢. The Tanghal Makata spoken Word Contest for Pili; brarians ‘This activity aims to provide an opportunity for the librarians or school library in-charge to enhance their hidden talents and to develop/improve their skills in public speaking through spoken word. Spoken word is a form of an artistic performance and is delivered with emotions through words to an audience. It is an oral art that focuses on the aesthetics of word play, rhythm, and provisions, rhyme, intonation and vioice inflection. 1. Only one entry per district for this activity and must be written in Filipino. Spoken word must be in a video format. The video must not exceed 3 minutes and must be submitted in mp4 format with 480p resolution to the Division LRMS c/o Marichu B, Casuela, on or before November 22, 2021. Attire must be appropriate to the spoken piece. Spontaneous delivery is preferred; however, contestants can use their printed guide. Sounds, instrumental or musical background are not allowed. The piece must be related to the 87 NBWs theme “OUTcomes, OUTreach, OUTstanding: Library Beyond Boundaries”. ‘The specifications for the written piece/work shall be: * Font size: 12 * Font type: Arial * One-inch margin all sides g NO 9S gD = Page tof n Road, Barangay. Entries must be originally written by the school librarian in-charge. Contestants shall retain the copyright of their work. If the participant is proven to have committed plagiarism in any way, even if unintentional, he/she will be disqualified. 10.Criteria for Judging; Originality = 20% Delivery and Performance = 40% Content = 20% Overall Impact = 20% 11.There shall be three winners to receive a Certificate of Recognition. 12.All participants to receive a Certificate of Recognition, 7. Adherence to safety health protocols shall strictly be observed by the management and all participants during the entire duration of the activity. 10.
