Lesson Plan in Science 3

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson the pupils will be able to:
a. analyze different pictures to classify it as either living or
non-living things.
b. differentiate between living and non-living things.
c. observe that living and non-living things have different
structures and functions.
II. Subject Matter:
Topic: Living and Non-living things

Instructional Material: Powerpoint presentation, Rock, Plant,
Book
III. Procedures:
A. Motivation:
a. The teacher will show two things to the class, the plant
and the book. Ask the pupils what is the difference
between the two things?
b. The teacher will show pupils her pet rock. Tell them
his/her name and that you have a little bed for him/her
in a box. Ask pupils, “What do you think I should feed
my pet rock?” or “Does my pet rock need food to
survive?” This will hopefully lead to the idea that the
rock is not actually alive; it’s just a pretend pet. Segue
to the lesson by telling pupils they will be exploring
living and nonliving things by classifying pictures into
non-living or living.
B. Presentation:
The teacher shows two pictures to the pupils and ask
them three questions about living and non-living things.
C. Discussion:
The teacher will discuss to the pupils about living things
and non-living things.
D. Application:
The teacher will ask the pupils to roam around and find
living things and non-living things.
E. Generalization:
The teacher will ask the pupils the different structures and
functions of living and non-living things in our lives.
IV. Evaluation:
Call a pupil each item and ask whether the shown picture is
a living or non-living thing.
Put a check in a column to its proper label.

V. Assignment:
Paste 2 pictures each of living things and non-living things
and explain its importance to our daily lives. Paste it in a long
bond paper.
