BELIEFS ON TEACHING
Pre-Teaching
I believe that students can learn without teachers,
but teachers cannot teach without learners. All learning
is outcome of a teaching effort, which is why it has
called Teaching-Learning Process. By this process,
teaching is giving lessons about a particular subject to
a group of learners. While learning is gaining knowledge
by studying, being taught and experiencing.

Educating yourself is another term for learning and

educating others is for teaching. Educating can be taken
as a word implying both teaching and learning. Since
'education' itself is a word implying sharing, giving and
receiving of knowledge.

In addition, teaching provides knowledge to whoever

is learning or sometimes even to the person who is
teaching. Sometimes if you learn something u do not get
it but if u teach someone, you understand it even better.
Therefore, that is the importance of teaching and
learning process.

BELIEFS ON TEACHING
Post-Teaching
We all know that, classroom generally consists of a teacher
and a group of students. Teacher’s role should be like a
facilitator or a mentor. In this way, teaching-learning process
becomes smooth and students will be motivated and interested to
learn new things.

Another thing is the teaching styles. This style should always

match the needs and interests of the learners. Its not about you,
its about them. You have to adjust your teaching styles
accordingly. Make sure your students feel comfortable with the
methods you adopt. So keep switching to suitable methods and keep
inventing and modifying the existing ones to have a fruitful
teaching learning experience.

Generally, the entire lot of effective teaching and learning

depends on your teachers' approach. Always focus from the angle of
student’s capacity and understanding. Always mount the stage with
the question what do the students already know and what should
they know more through your teaching. Work out the content and the
methods of teaching thoroughly. Never be with the attitude of I

know this, I will teach this or in this way only. A good teacher
is always a learner. Keep learning.

MY IDEA OF A CLASSROOM FOR GRADE 10

My ideal classroom will be founded on the principal of
establishing a safe, intellectual environment where my
students have the opportunity to grow and develop
physically and emotionally during this important time of
their lives. In order to provide this type of environment for
my students, I will make my expectations for my
classroom clear, and the consequences for going
against my expectations equally as clear. The basis of my
classroom will be built on mutual respect and trust. I plan
on creating this mutual trust and respect by developing
close relationships with all of my students. Through these
close relationships, I plan on using my students’ interests
and strengths to make my classroom and assignments as
interesting for my students as possible. I also plan to make
my students feel as though they are a crucial factor in the
classroom unit as a whole. I think students are good,
although some students may have disruptive tendencies.
Students are just seeking approval and attention. I
believe these students may need some guidance to
behave appropriately in my classroom, so I will make sure
they know how important being respectful is.

Activities to Enhance Cognitive Development of

my Learners
Grade Level: 10 Subject Area: English
All cognitive learning activities are directed towards pushing
students to work through different problems and stimuli. The goal is to get
them thinking and applying problem-solving strategies without the use of
preparation or steps that lead to an answer. Cognitive learning
essentially relies on five principles: remembering, understanding,
applying, evaluating, and creating. The following is a breakdown of
each principle and some activities students can do that correspond to
each.

1. Remembering

 Creating a timeline of important events from memory

 Make a game of reciting poetry or important writings
 Writing a paragraph or blurb detailing what they remember from
last class

2. Understanding

 Defending a point of view, or debate

 Creating a list of examples
 Classifying types of processes or events

3. Applying

 Have the students create an effective learning game themselves

 Solve problems or answer questions listed on the board
 Have students demonstrate procedures in front of class

Narrative about Learner’s Development and Instruction

Every teacher should understands how learners grow and develop,

recognizing that patterns of learning and development vary individually within
and across the cognitive, linguistic, social, emotional, and physical areas, and
designs and implements developmentally appropriate and challenging learning
experiences. Then uses this understanding of individual differences and diverse
cultures and communities to ensure inclusive learning environments that enable
each learner to meet high standards. Aside from those, working with others to
create environments that support individual and collaborative learning, and that
encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-
motivation. Through all of it, The teacher understands and uses multiple methods
of assessment to engage learners in their own growth, to monitor learner progress,
and to guide the teacher’s and learner’s decision making.

Connecting What I Observed: A Reflection

As a future classroom manager…

I learned that we should always be calm and composed at all times. Being calm will
be one of the best way to have a well-organized manner. The reason for staying like
this is because having a mixed emotions will greatly affect the way you handle your
class, thus affecting students learning and the over-all instruction

I am excited about the feeling of teaching my own students and the proper/
planned way of teaching my students.

I need to become as knowledgable as possible and professional as possible.

Because most students know how to analyze their professors. If you are below
their expectations, you might end up disrespected leading to fail instruction and
impression.
GOLDEN GATE COLLEGES
P. Prieto St., Batangas City
COLLEGE OF TEACHER EDUCATION

I am very much concerned about how I should handle my emotions well, but I do
feel that I can adapt and cope up with it throughout my teaching experiences.

I am afraid that if I messed up, my students will have their time, effort, and school
year wasted learning under me. That’s why I will give my best to give my all for
them and teach them well

Oh, how I wish that everything will work according tomy dreams and plan.

The Power of Engagement

(Title of Article)
Grade Level: 10
Subject Area: English

One of the best way to Increase students focus and attentions is engaging. During the
learning process, engaging students in the learning process increases their attention
and focus, motivates them to practice higher-level critical thinking skills, and promotes
meaningful learning experiences. In order to increase opportunities for student
engagement is to adapt a student-centered approach instruction as it helps everyone
in the teaching-learning process to become more and more successful in achieving the
course’s learning objectives. Engaged students also are more likely to perform well
academically, creating a culture of achievement in their classroom, developing
interactive and relevant lessons and activities, and being encouraging and supportive
to students are all ways in which teachers can foster student engagement in the
classroom.

AS A FUTURE TEACHER to improve your teaching:

As a future teacher, I will improve my teaching skills with the following tips. First, make
sure your lesson is ready. This includes my topic being well planned and with appropriate
examples, exercises, activities and homework. Second, involve students. This makes my
lessons interesting and relevant to the students. Use charts, drawing games, PPT and other
props / me to capture the senses of every student in a classroom environment. Third:
Motivate with examples and applications. Fourth, listen to my students. Listen to your
students' work, body language, mood, fear and excitement. Fifth, we need to enforce
discipline. You need to inoculate, not an injection. This means that punishment is a last
resort and students must be aware of the need to obey discipline. Sixth, give knowledge
and enjoy the privileges that shape your life. Looking at how to educate students into
educated and responsible citizens, I think there is an essential motivation to drive me to
excel and accept my profession. Finally, as a future teacher, I have the rare privilege of being
the surrogate parent of many who take care of me. It is also a big responsibility and I have
to deal with it with love.

FOR YOUR FUTURE LEARNERS to improve your learning:

For my dear future students I please you to listen well every instruction. You should
give your all/ best to be better and to improve yourself. Although some of your classmates
seems better, you must encourage yourself to be better as well. Always keep in mind that
not all students are the same, you don’t need to be someone or greater than anyone else.
Just be yourself and trust every process you are taking.

Standards for Administering a Test

- Trial run-through including how to exit during a test

Assessing students with Exact is straightforward but before any student takes the test, the
administrator should familiarise themselves with the tests. Ideally, this should be done under test
conditions. To do this, the administrator should register as a student.

- Testing environment and equipment

The ideal testing environment is one that is reasonably quiet, with minimal distractions. Ideally,
this should be a separate room, but Exact has been designed to be robust for use in the ordinary
classroom, provided visual and auditory distractions (both to the student being tested and to other
students in the class) have been minimised.

- Student preparation

Before testing, each student must be registered on Testwise. The tests can be done in any order
but it is usually best to start with word recognition, which students generally find quick and easy.
The computer speaks instructions, and each test commences with a practice or demonstration of
the task. When the student has completed the practice items, the test phase begins.

- Supervision

Where the teacher suspects that a student may not be motivated to complete the test, or may be
easily distracted, or may be performing deliberately below their capabilities, closer supervision
will be necessary.

- Giving encouragement, prompts and feedback

During the test, the supervisor should avoid giving feedback to students, as this may have a
negative influence on their behaviour. There is a risk of feedback encouraging some students but
discouraging others. Nevertheless, some students (particularly younger children or children with
special educational needs) will try to elicit feedback from the supervisor.

Community projects can be implemented from time to time in

order for the school and community to work together. This will not
