I. OBJECTIVES

After the discussion, most of the learners must have:

a. identify the four subsystems of Earth

b. describe each four subsystems of Earth; and
c. explain the interconnection of each subsystem.

The learners demonstrate an understanding of:

1. The formation of the universe and the solar system

A. Content Standards
2. The subsystems (geosphere, hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere) that make up the
Earth
3. The Earth’s internal structure

The learners shall be able to:

B. Performance
Standards Conduct a survey to assess the possible geologic/hydrometeorological hazards that your
community may experience

C. Most Essential
Learning
Competencies S11/12ES-Ia-e- 4 Explain that the Earth consists of four subsystems, across whose
(MELC) boundaries matter and energy flow
(If available, write the
indicated MELC)

IV. PROCEDURES

What I need to know

The learners may start the learning process by:
A) introducing the learning objectives as a guide in discussion; and
B) give some terminologies regarding the four subsystems of the Earth.

What is new
As an initial activity, Learning Task 1 is entitled “Crossword”. The learners search
the ten (12) terminologies related to the topic in the box.

B. Development What I know

The learners briefly answered open-ended questions, “Which among has the biggest
portion among the four subsystem of the Earth, why?” in three to five sentences in
Learning Task 2.

What is in
The learners will analyze which are the four subsystem (Atmosphere, Hydrosphere,
Geosphere and Biosphere of the Earth by labelling the given pictures below.

Learning Task 3: Picture

Analysis
What is it
By doing Learning Task 4, the learners will choose one out of four subsystem of
Earth they thought is it important (when it’s destroyed by illustrating.

What I can do
In Learning Task 5, The learners will make a “To Do List” on how to save not only a
particular system, but the Earth itself using the table below.

To do List of Environmentalists
1. As a well-learned student,
C. Engagement
2. As a disciplined student,
3. As a concerned citizen
4. As one of the next generation,
5. As one of the highest complex of an animal,

The learners will answer the questions, “What are the important four subsystems of the
D. Assimilation
Earth”

V. REFLECTION The learners in their notebook will write their perceptions about the lesson using the
