The Deciles for Ungroup Data

The deciles are the score points which divide a distribution into ten equal parts.

10% 10% 10% 10% 10% 10% 10% 10% 10% 10%

D1 D2 D3 D4 D5 (median) D6 D7 D8 D9

The Percentiles for Ungroup Data

The percentiles are the score points which divide a distribution into 100 equal parts.

1% 1% 1% … … 1% 1% 1%

P1 P2 P3 P50 P97 P98 P99

The 1st decile (D1) is the 10th percentile (P10). It means 10% of the data is less than or equal to the
value of P10 or D1, and so on.
