Apparatus
Why do we use glass for equipment?
Glass is transparent, making monitoring experiments easier. It is also
heat resistant and capable of withstanding thermal shock and won't
react with the substances used in an experiment.

Test Tubes, meant to perform reactions on a small scale.

Test Tube Holder, used to hold a test tube while heating. Has a wooden handle for insulation.
Test Tube Rack, used to store test tubes, upright.
Bunsen Burner, used as a flame/fire source.
Glass Rod, a rod of glass used to stir chemicals.
Conical Flask, flask with a thinner neck to make swirling to combine easier.
Boiling Tube, a test tube that is thicker and can withstand more heat.
Burette, used to measure and dispense liquids in exact quantities.
Pipette, transport a fixed volume of liquid.
Gas Jar, jar with a sliding lit used to store gases.
Spatula, a small spoon used to scoop and transfer chemicals.
Jar for Liquids, a jar with a thinner neck used to make pouring easier.
Jar for Solids, a jar with a thicker neck used to make scopping easier.
Beaker, generally, cylindrical container with a flat bottom.
Measuring Cylinder, used to measure accurate amounts of liquids.
Funnel, conical spout used to make pouring easier.
Filter Paper, used to separate fine solid particles from liquids.
Pipette Bulb, rubber bulbs placed at the end of a pipette to suction up the liquid.
Rubber Stoppers, used to create and air-tight seal on a jar.
Thermometer, used to measure temperature (mercury and digital).
Dropper, used to transfer and dispense liquids in small quantities.
Stopwatch, used to measure time.
Wash Bottle, lightly was glass wear (ONLY WATER).
Separating Funnel, used to separate immiscible liquids.
Watch Glass, hold samples/test samples in small quantities.
Tripod, used as a stand (while heating).
Wire Gauze, prevents direct heating and support glass wear.
Crucible, made (mainly) of silica, used to heat at high temperatures.
Tongs, holding/managing hot glass wear.
Clay Pipe (Triangle), used to hold a crucible over direct heat.
Desiccator, used to cool crucibles.
Retort Stand, used to hold a Burette (+ clamp).
Ceramic Tile, supporting hot glass wear (white).
Test Tube Brush, used to clean test tubes.
Petri Dish, shallow glass-bottom dish with a lid used to hold small samples.
Evapourating Dish, used to evapourate the solvent from the solution.
Capillary Tubes, used to test/transfer liquids in VERY SMALL amounts.
Theile's Tube, used to measure melting and boiling points.
Top-Pan Balance, weighing scale.
Litmus Paper, PH level indicator.
Syringe, used for collecting and measuring gases.
Round-Bottom Flask - a flask with a rounded bottom.
