Request to conduct STEP Project with Std 5 Students at Delaford Primary School
Dear Sir/Madam,
The Trinidad and Tobago Youth Ambassadors (TTYA) – Tobago Chapter is a youth-based NGO
operating within Tobago and Trinidad. TTYA will like to visit your school on Monday ,6th May
2019 from 1:30 pm to 2: 30 pm to meet with the Std 5 students to conduct a workshop as part of
School
Transition and Empowerment Programme (S.T.E.P).

A major aim of Youth Development Work is to promote positive, healthy development of young
people through the provision of support that allow youths to become empowered. As a result, the aim
of this programme is to provide young who are transitioning into their adolescent days with the
information, tools and skills necessary to successfully navigate the challenges they face during their
adolescent years as well as to ensure that they are sufficiently equipped to deal with issues during this
new phase of their life.
This workshop seeks to:
 Promote the development of resilient children who can cope effectively with the process of
change.
 Address the developmental concerns of adolescence in an interactive and youth friendly manner.
 Help young people to visualize success, manage strong and complex emotions, cope with stress
and anxiety, problem solve difficult situations, recognize their own signature strengths and build
upon these through a series of activities and problem-based learning opportunities.
 Encourage boys and girls’ participation and provide opportunities for young persons to learn and
express themselves creatively.
 Allow young boys and girls to have positive social interactions through meaningful play.
 Expose youth to possibilities for competence building and effective critical thinking.

We are kindly asking you to prepare the amount of Standard 5 students and a name listing before the
workshop, so certificate of participation can be given to each child at the end of the activity.
