WHY PLANT A CHURCH IN
SOUTH OKLAHOMA CITY?
IT’S GROWING

Oklahoma City is the capital and largest city of

the state of Oklahoma. It is a very attractive city
with a growing economy featuring strong energy
and oil sectors as well as information technology,
manufacturing, healthcare services, and more
than 20 universities.

Wheeler District is a 150- acre urban development

situated on the south bank of the Oklahoma River.
With plans for over 600 homes, 1,500 condos
and apartments, and 300,000 square feet of
merchant and maker space, Wheeler represents
the creation of an entirely new urban district in
South Oklahoma City.

Becasue of the $132 million development of

Scissortail Park along the river, the Bricktown
area with the river canal and ballpark, and the
continuing development of the light rail system
just across the river, many young families are
moving into the South Oklahoma City area.

CORE VALUES

DEVOTION TO SCRIPTURE
We believe Scripture is the Word of God and the primary means by
which God has chosen to make Himself known to all people. It is the
final authority for all aspects of life, faith, conduct, and ministry. As

such, we seek to make Scripture the foundation for the preaching and
teaching ministry of the church and believe that expository preaching
and teaching best honors the text of Scripture. We are also committed to
read, memorize, and meditate on the Scriptures in our personal lives so
that we may know God better.
(Psalms 119; John 17:17; 1 Thess 2:13; 2 Tim 3:16-17; Heb 4:12;
2 Pet 1:16-21)

GOSPEL CENTRIC
We believe that the Gospel is central to how we as sinful people may
know God, be reconciled to God, and live our lives for God. Therefore, our

COMMUNITY & MEMBERSHIP

We believe that the Christian life is not meant to be lived in isolation but
in a committed, biblical community with other believers. We are a family

INTENTIONAL EVANGELISM
We believe that humanity is in a desperately fallen state without any hope
of salvation apart from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We also believe that
Jesus commissioned His Church to proclaim this Gospel to all nations,
and we see Jesus model evangelism through intentional conversations
and relationships with lost people. Therefore, we will clearly and openly
articulate the gospel to anyone who will listen in the hopes that they will
be saved, while realizing their conversion is ultimately up to God.

is created in the image of God. Therefore, we seek to honor and value

Being an inner-city church plant requires a lot of resources and a lot of initial dependence
on outside supporters. Oklahoma City can be an expensive area in which to live, find a
gathering space, and operate as an organization. Therefore, we need to raise an average
of $136,000 annually in order to compensate a full-time pastor, secure a space to gather
together on Sundays, purchase start-up equipment, and support ministry and mission work.
Over time, by God’s grace, we anticipate Mosaic to become fully self-funded and to begin
sending resources to help others. It usually takes 3-5 years for a church plant to become
self-sufficient, but it can often be 5-7 years for an inner city church plant.

Therefore, we are asking both churches and individuals to prayerfully consider partnering
with us financially for at least four years in prayerful expectation that, by our fifth year,
Mosaic Baptist Church will be primarily supported internally through the faithful giving of
its members.

TIMELINE
The timeline is divided into four phases for the beginning of Mosaic, including specific
developmental goals within each stage. It should be noted that these are what we hope
for, pray for, and expect from God during a particular phase of planting, but ultimately
we rest in the providence of God and remain flexible in the timeline He ultimately has
ordained for us.

When we use the term Mosaic Launch Team, we are referring to a group of people that
will function as the seed of the church. These are people committed to going with us to
become the first members and to give their time, resources, and energy to help the birth
of Mosaic.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

PRAY Would you commit to partnering with us by

approaching the throne of God on our behalf
through ongoing prayer?

We firmly believe in the power of prayer. We know that without God’s power and
grace working in and through us, we cannot accomplish anything. Therefore, we
need you to pray for us. Even with hard work and careful planning, God must be
the one to build His church.

In addition, church planting brings with it large amounts of spiritual opposition,

relational tension, and financial strain. But we believe that God is powerful and
gracious to sustain and empower us. We know that prayer will make the biggest
difference in the life of Mosaic.

You can email us to sign up for updates and prayer requests as we launch Mosaic
Baptist Church.

GIVE Would you prayerfully consider partnering with us

through giving?

We know that Christians have many financial responsibilities and opportunities,

but we ask you to consider whether God is leading you to support Mosaic Baptist
Church. Your four-year partnership would allows this church to grow as we spread
the gospel in South Oklahoma City. Please contact us for more information.

16
JOIN Would you prayerfully consider joining us in the
planting of Mosaic Baptist Church?

Launch Team
Church planting involves so many opportunities to serve and be a part of something
new and exciting. We are praying that God would provide us with 25-50 committed
adults from a variety of cultural, socioeconomic, linguistic, and generational
backgrounds for our Mosaic Launch Team.

The Great Commission is not just for pastors or career missionaries but for everyone
who professes Him as Savior. We ask you to pray about coming and sacrificing your
time, energy, and finances to be part of something eternal. God may be calling you
to join us in Oklahoma City.

If you are interested in being a part of the Launch Team for Mosaic, please email
us for an application. After receiving your application, a member of our Leadership
Team will schedule a meeting with you to discuss how you can get involved with
the launch of Mosaic.

Missions
If you would like to help Mosaic Baptist Church but are unable to make a long-
term committment at this time, there are several ways you can still help. We need
people to help with VBS, church projects and community outreach. If you or your
church would be interested in helping us for a short mission trip or project, please
let us know.
