Mr. Alom is a photographer and filmmaker. He graduated from the Semiotic Studio of Urban Environment of the International Institute of Journalism, Cuba, in 1990; from the Studio of Restoration of Photographic Images at the Cuban Photographic Library in 1989, and he studied under Gerardo Suter at the Studio of Manipulated Photography at the Cuban Photographic Library, in 1989. BELKIS AYN
(b. Havana, 1967, d. 1999) Mrs. Ayn graduated from the 20 de Octubre Elementary Visual Art School (1982), the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts (1986) and the Higher Art Institute in Cuba (1991). She was a professor of engraving at these two important schools from 1993 to 1999. She was the co-curator along with Sandra Ramos and Muddy Abel of The Multiple Print, a collective show of Cuban Contemporary Engraving, as well as the vice-president of the Association of Visual Artists of the National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC). Her prints, typically made using a collage-like printing technique known as collography, is consistently bound up with an investigation of the Abuku Secret Society, an all-male organization of Afrocuban origin, founded in Cuba in the 1830s. Among the various awards earned are the First Prize of the Biennial of Latin American and Caribbean Engraving (San Juan, Puerto Rico, 1997); the First Prize of the Encounter of Engraving (Provincial Center of Visual Arts and Design, Havana, Cuba, 1993); and the First Prize of the 1e. (b. Havana, 1971) Mr. Cordero studied at San Alejandro School of Fine Arts and the Higher Institute of Industrial Design, both in Havana, Cuba.

(b. Sancti Spiritus, 1971) Mr. Flores graduated in Architecture from Central University in Las Villas, Cuba, in 1997. His artistic practice includes different disciplines. (b. Santa Clara, 1955) Mrs. Garca graduated from the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts in 1975 and received her MFA at the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Leningrad, Soviet Union, in 1983. She was Artist in Residence of the University of Michigan, United States (1997) and of the Ludwig Foundation of Cuba in Basel, Switzerland (2007). (b. Havana, 1976) Mrs. Leon graduated in Art History from the University of Havana in 1999 and as a Master in New Media Arts at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne, Germany, in 2007. (b. Havana, 1969) Mrs. Marrero graduated in Art History from the University of Havana in 1992. She is a curator and art critic who has worked with Jos ngel Toirac in joint projects. Their collective work has been exhibited at the National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba; the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York, USA; the Muse des Beux-Arts de Montral, Qubec, Canada; the Arizona State University Art Museum, Tempe, Arizona, USA; Art in General, New York, USA; Mattress Factory, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA; Geukens & De Vil Contemporary Art, Anvers, Belgium; Factora Compostela, Santiago de Compostela, Spain; the Cultural Centers Banco do Brasil in Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Brasilia, Brazil; and in other institutions and events. She has offered lectures at important cultural and educational centers in Cuba and abroad, and published various texts in specialized magazines and other publications on Cuban contemporary art. REN PEA
(b. Havana, 1957) Mr. Pea is a self-taught photographer who graduated in English Language from the Higher Pedagogical Institute of Havana University. He is a member of the National Union of Cuban Writers and Artists (UNEAC) and of the Advisory Council of the Cuban Photographic Library. Among his most outstanding individual exhibitions are Sad Blue Child (Villa Manuela Gallery, Havana, Cuba, 2010), Black Album, at the Bogota International Photography Festival Fotologia 6 (Santa Fe Gallery, Bogota, Colombia, 2008); Negative Relationships, with Marta Mara Prez (Habana Gallery, Havana, 2007) and Territories and Cartographies in Black and White (International Contemporary Engraving and Art Book Fair, Madrid, Spain). He has also exhibited at the 1st Latin American Photography Forum, Sao Paulo, Brazil,

His works are part of the collections of important institutions, such as the National Museum of Fine Arts, Havana, Cuba; the Wifredo Lam Center of Contemporary Art, Havana, Cuba; the Ludwig Forum fr Internationale Kunst, Aachen, Germany; as well as various private collections.
NGEL RAMREZ
(b. Havana, 1954) Mr. Ramrez graduated from the National School of Art in Cubanacan in 1977 and the Higher Art Institute in 1982. He participated as a professor in several international workshops: the Engraving Workshop of the Huelva Art Museum, Spain, 1988; the International Engraving Workshop The Multiple Print in the Higher Art Institute, Cuba, 1999; and the Pilar and Joan Miro Foundation Workshop in Majorca, Spain, in 1994, 1996 and 2004. His works have been exhibited in many important institutions: the National Museum of Fine Arts, La Acacia Gallery and Graphic Art Experimental Workshop, all of them in Cuba; also at the Museo de las Amricas, in San Juan, Puerto Rico; GAN Gallery in Tokyo, Japan; Star Hill Gallery in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; and Galeria Espacios in Madrid, Spain. Among the various awards earned for his works are the First Prize at the 8th Latin American and Caribbean Engraving Biennial, San Juan, Puerto Rico, in 1988; and the Third Prize at the First Graphic Biennial Exhibition, Argentina, 2000. He received in 2001 the Honorary Doctorate in Fine Art from the San Francisco Art Institute, San Francisco, California, USA. In 2001 he won, together with DUPP Gallery, the National Curatorship Award granted by the National Council of Visual Arts, and in 2000 the UNESCO Art Award at the 7 th Havana Biennial, also with DUPP Gallery. In 2010 he received the National Visual Art Award for his lifetime achievements.
SANDRA RAMOS
(b. Havana, 1969) Mrs. Ramos graduated from the 20 de Octubre Elementary Visual Art School in 1983, the San Alejandro School of Fine Arts in 1988 and the Higher Art Institute in 1993, all of them in Cuba. At this last institution she worked as engraving professor from 1993 to 1997. She has won The Best Show Award of the Year for The Multiple Print (Gallery 106, Austin, Texas, USA, 2002), the Great Award in the National Engraving Salon (Cuba, 1993) and Honorable Mention at La Joven Estampa, the International Latin American Graphic Contest (Casa de Las Americas, Havana, 1990). She has received scholarships and residencies at various institutions, like the Mattress Factory in Pittsburg, USA (2004), the Fuchu Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan (2003), the Water Mill Foundation, New York, USA, (2003); the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, USA (2002); the Barbican Center in London, United Kingdom (1999); and the Civitella Ranieri Foundation, Italy (1998). Ms. Ramos has offered lectures on contemporary Cuban art at institutions like Havana University, the Fuchu Art Museum in Tokyo, Japan; the Lowe Art Museum in the University of Miami, Florida, USA; the Cuban Art Space in New York, USA, and the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. She was the co-curator of the event The Multiple Print for various years; with this project she received in 2003 the National Curatorship Award granted by the National Council of Visual Arts of The Cuban Ministry of Culture.
ESTERIO SEGURA
(b. Santiago de Cuba, 1970) Mr. Segura graduated from the Visual Arts Elementary School in 1985, the Professional School of Arts in 1989, both in Camaguey, and from the Higher Art Institute in 1994 in Havana, Cuba. He has taught at the Higher Art Institute in Havana, Cuba, and at the University of South Florida, Tampa, Florida, USA. Tonel is the recipient of a Rockefeller Foundation Fellowship in the Humanities (1997-98) with residency at The University of Texas, Austin, and a John S. Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship for painting and installation art (1995). He was awarded the Prize for art criticism by the Cuban Section of the International Art Critics Association (AICA) in 1988. In 2003 he received the Cuban Artists Fund Award (Cuban Artists Fund, New York, USA). He is currently based in Vancouver, Canada, where he focuses in his own practice as a visual artist and writer, and teaches drawing and painting at the Department of Art History, Visual Art and Theory at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Tonel is an independent artist, art critic and curator. He graduated in Art History from the University of Havana in 1982. He taught at the San Francisco Art Institute, California, USA, in 2001, and was a visiting artist/lecturer at the Center for Latin American Studies and at the Department of Art and Art History in Stanford University, California, USA, from 2001 to 2003. His articles and essays on Cuban and Latin American contemporary art have been published regularly in catalogues, magazines and books in Cuba and abroad. His works have
