BOOK REPORT

1. Write a brief biography of the author in your own words (100 words approximately).

Bram Stoker was born on 8th November, 1847 in Ireland.


His parents were Charlotte Mathilda Blake Thornley and Abraham Stoker.
His family was bourgeois and his greatest fortune was books and culture.
Bram had health problems in his first 7 years and for this reason his first studies were at
home with private teachers.

While he was sick, his mother told him horror stories and mysteries, stories that later
influenced his books.

In 1870 he graduated from Trinity College.


In 1878 he married Florence Balcombe and had a son with her.

Some of his books are:


- The Primrose Path (1875)
- The Snake's Pass (1890)
- The Coming of Abel Behenna (1893)
- A Dream of Red Hands (1894)
- The Squaw (1894)
- The Watter's Mou' (1895)
- The Shoulder of Shasta (1895)
- Miss Betty (1898)
- Drácula (1897) was his most recognized book
Bram Stoker died on April 20th, 1912, without success. He died poor and forgotten after a
general paralysis.
2. Draw a mind map that shows the relationships among the characters.

3. Write a brief summary of the plot in your own words (150 words approximately)

The story takes place in Transylvania when Jonathan Harker goes to Dracula's castle for
business matters because he is a lawyer, Jonathan stays in Dracula's castle for a short
time, as time passes Jonathan realizes that in that castle strange things happen to the
point that he realizes that Count Dracula is a ruthless being. In Dracula's castle also inhabit
3 vampires who try to suck the blood of Jonathan, but Dracula intervenes in return gives
them a child to drink their blood however Jonathan becomes a prisoner, later manages to
escape as Dracula was in London and turns Lucy into a vampire, She is the friend of Mina,
Jonathan's fiancée, soon after Lucy terrorizes London as a vampire, Mina goes to Dr Van
Helsing tells her that Dracula is the cause so they decide to look for him and kill him,
during the trip Van Helsing kills the 3 vampire women. Soon after Dracula confronts
Jonathan and finally Jonathan Harker kills Dracula by cutting his throat.

5. Write your opinion about the book: Did you like it? Why? why not?

We really liked the book, we believe that it’s better to read the book than to see the
movie, because in the book there are more details of everything that happens and so we
could imagine the scenes while we were reading.
We also think that reading Dracula helped us a lot in learning new words and grammar.
