Board of Directors Meeting (Zoom call)


Monday, September 14, 2020; 7:30pm

MINUTES
Directors Present, constituting a quorum were:

Jim Sherwood, President/Grounds and Maintenance


Rachid Benjelloun, Social Events
Martha Bernardi, Membership
Donna Nelson-Schneider, Membership
Roger Hartman, Neighborhood Watch
Stephanie Murphy, Treasurer/Secretary

1. Call to Order
The meeting was called to order at 7:35 p.m.

2. Approval of Last Meeting’s Minutes


The minutes for the July 2020 meeting were approved.

3. Events

a. National Night Out – NNO is planned for October 6 (postponed from its usual first Tuesday
in August schedule). The date is set as a national date by the National Association of Town
Watch (NATW.org). Mr. Hartman is organizing LBCA’s event. Invitations have been or
will be going to the following: police, fire, local politicians. We have approval to use the
pool parking lot for the event.

Because of the pandemic, we will not be providing food or drink. We will have some
handouts and giveaways. There will not be a raffle this year. We will be encouraging
people to wear masks. There is no rain date. Messaging will include email and Next Door.
Mr. Sherwood will put out the signs for NNO and then changed to the membership drive.

b. Turkey Trot – The planned date for the Turkey Trot this year will be Thanksgiving morning
on November 26th. The Board discussed alterations to the run, including running in small
groups at the start. Food distribution would be changed for grab and go. The bags could
include a banana, water bottle/capri sun and individually wrapped chocolate turkey. No
coffee or hot chocolate will be available. Mr. Hartman will work on the permit with the
police and VDOT. T-shirts will be designed. Ms. Bernardi will work on the t-shirt options.
The rain date is Friday, November 27th. Mr. Benjelloun will send the map to Mr. Hartman
for the permit process.

4. Membership Drive
Ms. Bernardi and Ms. Nelson-Schneider are preparing the mailing to the community. An envelope
with the LBCA logo on it will help it stand out from the usual junk mail. The street reps have been
notified by email of the revised plans.

Ms. Nelson-Schneider will contact Steve Alvo to update the Facebook page and the google form with the
changes for this membership drive.

5. Upcoming Meeting
The next meeting date is tentatively scheduled for early October.

6. Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 pm.
