4.3 Analysis What is a zero product property?
What are the steps in solving quadratic equation using the zero product property?
How important it is in solving quadratic equation?

5 minutes

4.4 Abstraction

Based on the activity, the students were able to apply the concept the different mathematical
concepts in factoring quadratic equations.
10 minutes How did you factor each equation?

4.5 Application
Let the students give 5 examples of quadratic equation that can be solve by factoring. They will do
it by group of 5 members wherein they will write it in a strips of cartolina with solutions.

Possible answers.
1. x2 + 9x = -8 → x = -1 or x = -8 4. t2 + 12t + 36 = 0 → x = -6 or x = -6
2. 9x2 - 4 = 0 → x = - 2/3 or x = 2/3 5. x2 - x - 6 = 0 → x = 3 or x = -2

5 minutes 3. w2 - 64 = 0 → x = -8 or x = 8

Directions: Solve the following quadratic equations by factoring

4.6 Assessment
method.
1. x2 + 7x = 0 6. x2 - 14 = 5x

3. t + 8t + 16 = 0 8. x - 25 = 0
4. x2 - 10x + 25 9. 81 - 4x2 = 0
5. h2 + 6h = 16 10. 4s2 + 9 = 12s

situation and the sketch plan made, formulate as many quadratic
equations then solve by factoring.
The score of this activity will be rated according to a rubric scale.
4.8 Concluding Activity
Let the students be reminded that the quadratic equation has many practical applications in the
world beyond school. You may not think you need to know it now; however the higher paying jobs
