ACTIVITY #2: ROLE PLAY

DIRECTION: With the presented scenario, answer the following.

● You’re the CEO of a large furniture company. You have 150 stores across the
Philippines. There is a recession in the economy and your sales are down.
The trends show that the recession is coming to an end and sales will
rebound, but there’s no way to be sure. You only have enough money to keep
all of your stores opened for the next 10 months before the entire company
goes out of business. You can either close 50 of the stores, which means
letting go of 2,000 employees but saves your other 100 stores, or you wait
and hope that the sales start to rise in time.

● “We need to accept that we don’t always make the right decisions, and that
we’ll screw up royally sometimes. Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s a
part of success.” − Arianna Huffington

1. What information would you want to know before you decide?

I want to know that what would happen to those 2,000 employees if
I let them go and the assurance of opening for the next 10 months.
Also, can I survive the recession and recover from the recession?

2. What factors are most important?

For me is the continuous of the company until the crisis is over, In business
recession is part of the journey of having a company so that you need
a back up plan in that problem.

3. What ultimately would be your decision?

For me I will let go of the 2,000 employees because it is hard if the company
will take down after 10 months. By letting go some of my employees
The damage will be temporary and It will recover as time passes by.
