Product”.

C. Task Creation Process

Purpose of the original multimedia/hypermedia product.

The purpose of the original multimedia/hypermedia product was to quickly educate

parents or guardians of children that are patients at the children’s hospital of the “Beanie Babies”

benefit of visiting the Children’s Harbor within the hospital. The multimedia/hypermedia product

is related to the “Beanie Babies” theme by showing the Children’s Harbor where the “Beanie

Babies” are housed in the game kiosk in the patients’’ relaxation room.

Being a patient or having a child in the hospital is a very terrifying event. The product provides

context by showing how a momentary distraction from an illness can be found easily by visiting

the Children’s Harbor. It is very important that parents and guardians take the time to relax by

taking their child to the Children’s Harbor for relaxation, distraction, and win “Beanie Babies”!

“Beanie Babies” are slightly difficult to capture in the “Beanie Babies” machine, but each person

gets unlimited tries to win with a single token given to them at the reception desk for free.

Everyone is always successful at capturing one and it’s a great distraction and accomplishment

for a child battling a war for their health.

1. Target audience for the multimedia/hypermedia product.

The target audience are the parents or guardians of children who are patients of the

children’ hospital.

The justification of having the target audience as the parents or guardians of children who are

patients of the children’s hospital is because children cannot visit the Children’s Harbor without

a parent or guardian supervision. The target audience was chosen because they are the people

that need to be convinced to bring children to the Children’s Harbor to visit the relaxation room

and win a “Beanie Baby”.

3. Software and Rationalization of Usage

The software or app that was used to create the multimedia/hypermedia was Videoleap.

The rationale behind using Videoleap to create the multimedia/hypermedia product is the ease of

use. Videoleap allows the user to upload video, pictures, and audio or they allow you to use their

audio. The videos, photos, audio, special effects, and text can be quickly and easily merged to

create really great videos simply through the use of the app and an iPhone. The app also offers

free trials that I utilized to create my multimedia/hypermedia product.

4. Task Process

The process that was followed to create my multimedia/hypermedia product started

initially by creating a concept map. Within the concept map, my first step to creating the

multimedia/hypermedia product involved capturing a picture of the bulletin outside of the

Children’s Harbor with my iPhone. Inclusion of the bulletin in the product was very important

because it informs the visitors of what activities and products the Children’s Harbor offers.

Entering the Children’s Harbor, I created a video spanning the relaxation area and ending on the
“Beanie Babies” game console. After leaving the Children’s Harbor, I took a picture of my

personal collection of “Beanie Babies” posed on the ledge of a window.

I opened the Videoleap app that I downloaded from the AppStore on my iPhone and selected

“Projects” on the far-right end of the task bar. After selecting the “Projects” options, the screen

populated with a notification asking for permission to give Videoleap access to my graphic

media. After selecting the option allowing the app to access my photos and videos or graphic

media, I selected the red plus sign at the button of the page. After selecting the red plus sign, the

screen populated with the graphic media saved in the phone prompting me to select the media I

wanted to include in my project. After the media was selected, a prompt appeared at the bottom

of the screen to “Add to Project” and the option was selected. After the “Add to Project” option

was selected, the screen populated with the photo of the bulletin outside of the “Children’s

Harbor”, the video spanning the relaxation room inside the harbor, and the photo of the “Beanie

Babies” that I have won for a child inside of the harbor. I was allowed to position the three

selections within the video, and I positioned the bulletin first, the video spanning the room

second, and finally the photo of the “Beanie Babies”. Below the arrangement of the media

selection, the Videoleap app has a variety of options to add to the video and you can select the

exact second the option is shown in the video. I selected the “Text” option and selected the font,

size, and color and input the text I wanted and arranged it when and where I wanted it to be.

After completing the task including text, I selected “Audio” from the task button on the bottom

of the task bar. After the “Audio” option was selected, the screen populated with a series of

audio options, and “Music” was selected. After selection of the “Music” option, the app

populated an arrangement of stock music that can be used in the video, and I selected the

“Motivational Corporate 60 Sec”. The app populated with the notification that the 60 second clip
was downloaded. The music clip can then be adjusted to start and stop exactly when you want it

to. After the music clip is arranged within the video, you can go back to add transitions within

the graphics by selecting the “Transitions” option and add transitions to the video clip. After the

visual effects and audio has been added to the video, the video can be previewed and adjusted if

necessary. After the video has been deemed acceptable to the creator of the video, the top far

right button titled “Export” should be selected. After the “Export” option was selected, the screen

populated a variety of options and “Save” was selected at the bottom of the screen. The option

populated a screen informing the creator that the video is being exported to the phone’s media

files. The successful exportation was verified by accessing the phone’s media file. The video that

was created with the Videoleap app was present, accessible, and played properly.

2. Discussion of the Framework Usage

The conceptual framework flowchart helped with the design and development of the

multimedia/hypermedia by allowing the creator of the product to format and present the steps

that are necessary to complete the product.

The flowchart that was created for the “Beanie Babies” product has four steps. The steps are

gathering multimedia, using the Videoleap app to make the product by adding audio and
transitions, previewing the video and making adjustments, and finally saving and exporting the

completed multimedia/hypermedia product. Following the steps of the flow chart will enable a

multimedia/hypermedia creator to have a complete product with audio and transitions
