All about my Chosen Profession

Agriculture is the art and science of cultivating the soil, growing crops and raising livestock. It

includes the preparation of plant and animal products for people to use and their distribution to

markets.

Agriculture provides most of the world’s food and fabrics. Cotton, wool, and leather are all

agricultural products too. Agriculture provides food, fibre and raw materials to industry. It

contributes significantly to GDP. Agriculture can also be provides cleaner, better environment

for people to lead healthy life on earth. Moreover, it also provides employment to large section

of the people.

“People will always need food, so being an agriculturist is an excellent career option.”

“A career as an agriculturist can lead in many directions. An agriculturist is not someone who is

simply a farmer. Agriculture is  a technologically-sophisticated and ever expanding field.

Agriculturists have very good career prospects, since they ensure agricultural productivity.  They

look for ways to improve the quality and productivity of agricultural production, and make

farming more safe and effective,” said Baldoz.

There is more to a career in agriculture than just being a farmer (although, of course, that is also

a very viable career option for those looking to get into the field). Such as Agricultural

Salesperson, Commercial Horticulturalist, Conservation Planner, Soil and Plant Scientist, Farm

Manager, Agricultural Economist and Agricultural Engineer.

Agriculture provides food, fibre and raw materials to industry. It contributes significantly to

GDP. Agriculture provides cleaner, better environment for people to lead healthy life on earth.

Moreover, it provides employment to large section of the people. If a nation has to be strong,

then it has to be self-reliant coupled with strong agricultural economy that supports ecological

and nutritional security.
