A SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN FOR ORAL COMMUNICATION

NAME OF TEACHER : APPLE MARIE B. FELISILDA TIME ALLOTMENT : 1 HOUR


GRADE LEVEL AND SECTION : 11 - BROCCOLI CLASS SCHEDULE : 09:30 – 10:30 A.M.

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, the students are expected to:
a. define communication;
b. demonstrate the different ways of communication; and
c. appreciate the importance of communication in one’s daily life.

II. Subject Matter

c. Materials : manila paper, markers, pictures

III. Learning Procedures


A. Preliminary Activities (5 minutes)
A.1. Prayer and Cordial Greetings
The teacher calls on a student to lead the prayer followed by the greetings.
A.2. Checking of Attendance
The teacher checks the attendance of the students.
A.3. Presentation of Lesson Objectives
The lesson objectives are given to students for their awareness.

B. Lesson Proper
B.1. Activity
ACROSTIC (10 minutes)
The learners will create 5 groups with 6 members each. Each group will look for words which are
associated with ‘communication’ using the letters C-O-M-M-U-N-I-C-A-T-E. Then a group
representative will present their outputs to class.

B.2. Analysis (10 minutes)


The teacher will ask the learners:
* Are the words related to communication? Why did you say so?
* Using the words you have written, what is communication to you?

B.3. Abstraction (15 minutes)


The teacher will discuss about the definition of communication:
1. Communication is the transmission and reception of information between two humans using a
signalling system.
2. Communication is the process of sharing our ideas, thoughts, and feelings with other people
having those ideas, thoughts, and feelings understood by the people we are talking with.
3. When we communicate we speak, listen and observe.
4. Communication is the process of sharing and conveying messages or information from one
person to another within and across channels, contexts, media, and cultures.

After the discussion, the teacher will ask the learners:


* What is the importance of communication?
*How important is it in our daily lives?

B.4. Application (15 minutes)


The learners will stay with the same group and does a role play showing the different ways of
communication. They will be given 5 minutes to prepare.
SCENARIOS:
Group 1: Friends exchanging messages thru video chat.
Group 2: A SHS graduate looking for a job thru classified ads.
Group 3: A news anchor giving an announcement about the safety protocols to avoid COVID-19 thru
radio and TV.
Group 4: A wife asking her husbands’ condition abroad thru letter writing.
Group 5: A teenager asking his parents’ permission to go on a night-out with friends but wasn’t
allowed.

IV. Evaluation (10 minutes)


Directions: On a whole sheet of paper, write a short reflective essay regarding your understanding of
communication and how important it is in our daily lives.
