Types of Numbers

A number is an arithmetic value used to indicate the quantity of an item in

mathematics. In our daily lives, we use numbers to count money, time, things, and so on.
The number system has several sorts of numbers.
The numbers are categorized into distinct sorts based on their qualities and how they
are represented on the number line. Each number categorization is described, with attributes
and examples, to help you grasp it better. The following are the many types of numbers and
these are the few of them:

 Natural Numbers
Natural numbers, commonly known as "counting numbers," are the set of positive
integers ranging from 1 to infinity. The letter "N" represents the set of natural numbers.
Example: N = {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, ……….}
35, 59, 110, etc.

 Whole Numbers
Natural numbers with zero are another name for whole numbers.
Example: 67, 0, 49, 52, etc.

Fractions
Fraction is a number stated as a quotient in which a numerator is divided by a
denominator. Both are integers in a simple fraction. A complicated fraction contains a
fraction in either the numerator or the denominator. A suitable fraction has a numerator that
is smaller than the denominator.
Example: The fraction 3/4 may be explained as follows.
3 is the numerator.
4 is the denominator.

Ratios
A ratio in mathematics is a comparison of two or more numbers that shows their
sizes in relation to each other. A ratio compares two quantities by dividing them, with the
dividend or number split referred to as the antecedent and the divisor or number divided
referred to as the consequent.
Example: There is 1 boy and 3 girls you could write the ratio as:

 1 : 3 (for every one boy there are 3 girls)

Percentage
A percentage is a figure or ratio that may be stated as a fraction of 100 in
mathematics. If we need to compute the percentage of a number, divide it by the entire and
multiply by 100. As a result, the percentage denotes a part per hundred. The term % refers
to one hundred percent. It is denoted by the sign "%."
Example: 8% of 50
8% of 50 is the same as 50% of 8
And 50% of 8 is 4
So 8% of 50 is also 4

Powers
The term 'power' in mathematics refers to the process of increasing a base number
to its exponent. It denotes the two fundamental aspects of powers as "base number" and
"exponent."

Example:  24 = 2 × 2 × 2 × 2 = 16
We can say "2 to the power 4 is 16", or we can also say "the 4th power of 2 is
16"
