What amount of money is available through scholarships?
This is variable amongst the universities. There are some research programmes that
cover up to 100% of the tuition fee as part of the scholarships and do not cover the
living expenses. Government scholarships are more competitive when compared to
university scholarships, hence, the procedure should be initiated about 8-12 months
before the intake begins.
The United Kingdom

The United Kingdom is amongst the best study abroad destinations in the world.
Universities in the UK along with other public and private organizations grant thousands
of scholarships to international students. The scholarships are based on merit, need (i.e.
Need-based scholarship provides funds for students based on their level of financial
need.) and course. If the initial tuition deposits are made within a stipulated time, then
the majority of the UK Universities also grant concessions in the tuition fee. The
merit-based scholarships are highly competitive and require a focused application as
well as a very well written statement of purpose.
The general eligibility criteria for UK Scholarships for Indian Students are:

UK GOVERNMENT SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL
STUDENTS
Chevening Scholarships
The UK government grants this scholarship to academically outstanding students

through the UK government’s Global Scholarships Program. This grant concerns a
Master’s degree program in the UK. The majority of these Scholarships cover the
following:
● entire tuition fees;
● an economy class return airfare to the UK;
● Individual living allowance;
● additional allowances to cover necessary expenditure.
Eligibility
● Candidates must be citizens of India and must have preferably attained 2 years
of work experience.
● They should have applied to three different UK University courses and must have
received an unconditional offer from one of them.
● Candidates are also required to meet the English language requirements.
● Nearly 1,500 Chevening Scholarships are available in every academic cycle.
Commonwealth Masters Scholarships
Commonwealth Scholarships are granted by the Department for International

Development (DFID) in the UK to international students from developing
Commonwealth countries wanting to pursue Masters and PhD in the UK. The
scholarship offers:

Coverage
● Airfare to and from the UK;
● Thesis grant;
● Additional allowances to cover personal basic expenses;
● Examination and tuition fees, all included.
Eligibility
The candidate must be a citizen of India and should have attained 60% marks in their
undergraduate degree to apply for Social Sciences and Humanities programs.
A declaration needs to be also provided by the candidates that they will not be able to
fund their education in the UK without this scholarship.
Commonwealth Fellowship Plan
The Commonwealth Fellowship Plan is granted by the government for the students of
Commonwealth countries. This scholarship covers the entire tuition fee of the scholar,
one economy-class return and other allowances.
UK INSTITUTION-SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS
The Global Study Awards
The British Council, Study Portals and ISIC, in partnership, grant ‘The Global Study
Awards’ to encourage international students to study in the UK to improve intercultural
relationships.
Coverage
The deserving scholar receives a scholarship worth £10,000. This scholarship is opened
twice a year to two international students.

Eligibility
● Be aged 18 years or over on 1 January 2018;
● Have taken an IELTS test at a British Council centre, with a valid official Test
Report Form (TRF) issued by the British Council after 1st June 2017;
● Be a valid ISIC cardholder at the time of application;
● Be planning to enroll on a full-time undergraduate or postgraduate programme

abroad;
● Have written a short review of study experience at STeXX.eu
● Be able to provide a confirmation letter and/or official enrollment letter from the
institution by the time of shortlisting.
Goa Education Trust Scholarships
Goa Education Trust (GET) is specifically for students from Goa.
Coverage
The scholarship covers full or half tuition fees for the courses.
Eligibility
● Applicants should be under the age of 30 years at the time of application
● Valid passport
● Should have completed graduation from a recognized Indian University
○ The applicant should have an unexceptional academic record and

extra-curricular achievements
● A proof of enrollment or an unconditional admission letter for any PG course

from any of the recognized UK universities beginning in the fall semester
(September/October)

Charles Wallace India Trust Scholarships
Charles Wallace India Trust (CWIT) offers 10 long-term awards every year to
international students which include accommodation and living expenses in Britain,
fees and a contribution to international fares.
Eligibility
● Be an Indian citizen living in India
● Be aged between 28 and 38
● Have not received a CWIT grant within the last five years
● Have a first degree, diploma or professional qualification in their

specialization. CWIT prefers applicants with significant working experience
British Council Great Scholarships for Indian students
British Council Great Scholarships announces around 198 scholarships with a total
budget of £2.6 million every academic year in partnership with 40 UK universities. The
scholarships consist of around 169 Postgraduate and 29 undergraduate awards from
art and design to engineering, law and management courses.
Coverage
Each scholarship is worth a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year
postgraduate course.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must:
● be a citizen of India.
● have an undergraduate degree that will enable you to enter a

postgraduate (taught) programme in a UK university.

● be motivated and academically able to follow a UK postgraduate course

Felix Scholarship
Felix Scholarships are introduced for academically outperforming and disadvantaged

students from different developing countries.

● Allows gifted underprivileged students the chance of furthering their education

School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), part of the University of London

Erasmus Mundus
Erasmus Mundus Scholarship improved the quality of higher education through

cooperation between Europe and the educational institutes throughout the globe. A
non-EU applicant receives a higher scholarship than that of an EU applicant.
Eligibility
● You are a national coming from a third country.

● You are not a resident of any of the 27 EU Member States, Iceland, Norway or
Liechtenstein.
● You have not carried out your main activity (studies, work, private visits, tourism,
etc.) for more than a total of 12 months over the last five years in any of the 27
European Union Member States, Iceland, Norway or Liechtenstein.
● You have not applied to more than 3 Erasmus Mundus Masters.
Coverage
Category A students receive an Erasmus Mundus scholarship of 47,000 euros for two
academic years, in order to finance their participation to the MACLANDS programme.
UK UNIVERSITY-SPECIFIC SCHOLARSHIPS
University of Westminster
The University of Westminster offers numerous scholarships for both undergraduate

and graduate students.
Eligibility
● Copies of your qualifications (certificates and/or transcripts where you have met,

● High Achiever Scholarship grants £2,500 per academic year for a full-time

Coventry University
Coventry University invests £1million in scholarships every year for international

students who are wishing to pursue an undergraduate and postgraduate degree at the
University. Each scholarship of Coventry University is worth up to £1,500.
Eligibility
● International Academic Excellence Award:
○ Be self-funded and paying international tuition fees.
○ Hold a conditional offer for a qualifying course.
○ Have at least 70% or equivalent in the academic qualification that is the

basis of admission for your applied course. For example, have 70% in
your 12th grade High School studies if you are applying for an
undergraduate bachelor’s course, or 70% in your bachelor’s degree if you
are applying for a postgraduate master’s.
● Churches Together Hardship Fund
○ The CTBI Hardship Fund was set up in 1990 by the former Churches
Commission for International Students who are facing unexpected
financial problems during the final stages of their course.
○ Grants are typically up to £1,000 and are administered based on the basis
of an agreed criteria.
Rhodes Scholarships at University of Oxford
Rhodes Scholarships at the University of Oxford is the oldest and the most prestigious
of all. There are five Scholarships provided to the Indian students, each year, who are
elected for the following:
● outstanding intellect;
● character;
● leadership;
● commitment to service;
● to pursue their education.
These scholarships are awarded to exceptional postgraduate students at the University

of Oxford.
Coverage
The scholarship includes:
● complete tuition fee;
● health insurance;
● one economy-class flight ticket to the home country.
Eligibility
● The applicant must be a citizen of India. Person of Indian Origin and Overseas
Citizenship Of India cardholders do not satisfy the Indian citizenship criteria.
● The applicant must have undertaken formal education in India for 4 years in the
last 10 years and must be above 19 years and below 25 years of age.

● The applicant must have completed their undergraduate degree with a
First-Class equivalent.
Queen Mary University
Queen Mary provides numerous scholarships for Undergraduates, Master’s and Ph.D.
students. The university has invested over £ 25 million to support international
students.
Eligibility
● You must have achieved a UK First Class Bachelor’s degree or an overseas

equivalent degree. Information on the comparability of international
qualifications can be found on the Entry Requirements section under the listings
for each programme in the course finder. Please note this information is only
intended as a guide as the final decision on equivalency of overseas
qualifications will be made by the Admissions Office at Queen Mary.
● You must be eligible to pay overseas tuition fees.
● This scheme is available only to students who apply for and enrol on an eligible
course taught in specified school or faculty in the 2021/22 academic year.
● You must not be in receipt of any other University scholarship or full-fee

scholarship from any other source.
● If you are awarded the scholarship it will be deducted directly from tuition fees
payable to the University. You must be able to finance the remainder of your
tuition fees and living expenses.
● They normally consider the following qualifications for entry to their

postgraduate taught programmes: Bachelor Degree (minimum 3 years) from
selected institutions.

○ UK 1st class degree: 70% to 80%
○ UK 2:1 degree: 60% to 70%
○ UK 2:2 degree: 50% to 60%

● University of Sussex Chancellor’s International Scholarships are offered to

● IELTS academic score 6.0
● Personal statement
● Student visa
● Bachelor's degree with a minimum overall mark of at least 50-65% depending on

your university.
● Your qualification should be in law or a relevant subject such as economics,

finance, international relations, political science, history, criminology, criminal
justice or sociology. You may still be considered for the course if you have a
qualification in a different subject area. You may also be considered for the

UAL Vice-Chancellor’s Postgraduate International Scholarships
Eligibility
● The candidate must have applied to study a full-time taught masters course at
one of six Colleges under University of the Arts London
● The candidate must be permanent resident in one of the low income countries

This Scholarship aims at fully supporting 10 students belonging to low-income
group countries and applied for studying a qualifying full-time Master’s degree at
the University of the Arts London.

● The scholarship amount is £25,000.
THE UNITED STATES

Inlaks Shivdasani Foundation Scholarship
● Available for universities in America, Europe and UK,
Eligibility
● The applicant must be a citizen of India and must hold a first-class

undergraduate degree.
● Candidates less than 30 years of age who have secured admission in a

top-ranking University are eligible to apply.
Coverage
The scholarship covers:
● full tuition fees;
● living allowance;
● one-way travel allowance;
● health allowance.
● The maximum funding given to each candidate is USD 100,000.

Fulbright-Nehru Master’s Fellowship
This scholarship is awarded to motivated Indian students who demonstrate leadership

skills to study in US colleges.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Fulbright scholarship, the applicant must have:
● an equivalent of US’ bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks;
● three years of work experience and must have experience in leadership and
community service.

Hubert Humphrey Fellowship Program
This program is a part of the Fullbright program which is one of several United States
Cultural Exchange Programs with the goal to improve intercultural relations, cultural

States and other countries through the exchange of persons, knowledge, and skills.
Basic Eligibility Criteria
● An undergraduate (first university or Bachelor's) degree;
● A minimum of five years of full-time, professional experience;
● Limited or no prior experience in the United States;

● A record of public service in the community;

About the scholarship
● It is for 10 months study related practical experience;
● A new offering in this program is Long-Term English (LTE) language training –

The Schwarzman Scholarship
These Scholars can pursue a Masters in Global Affairs at Tsinghua University in Beijing.

J.N. Tata Endowment
Open to all disciplines, this is a one-time loan scholarship to Indian students so that
they can pursue postgraduate studies abroad.
Eligibility:
● Candidates who are citizens of India
● Candidates have secured a minimum of 60% from recognized Universities
The amount of loan scholarship ranges between INR 1,00,000 to INR 10,00,000.
A gift scholarship to students with excellent academic performance abroad may also be
awarded INR 7,50,000.
K.C. Mahindra Scholarship
It is an interest-free loan scholarship provided by K.C. Mahindra Education Trust to

pursue post-graduate studies abroad.
Eligibility:
