2.

0 Physical Characteristics

2.1 Geographic Location:

Barangay Ditucalan is located on the southwestern part of Iligan City,

bounded on the northwest and east by Maria Cristina; on the south and southwest

by municipality of Linamon; and on the northwest by Brgy. Buru-un.

It is 10.0 kms from the city proper and it is _______ kms. along the

national highway. As to other major points based on its means transportation,

from the City Hall it is ____ kms; from hospital it is ____ kms; from PNP Station it

is _____ kms. and ______kms. to its major trading center. The location map

and map showing puroks and sitios is presented in Figure 2.

2.2 Land and Natural Resources

2.2.1 Land Area and Existing Land Use

The barangay have 15 existing puroks with a total land area of 77.56

hectares which is 0.09% of the total land area of the city. Its area is distributed

to the different puroks. A detail of this is shown in Table 1, and Figure 1.

Its existing land uses 59% percent occupied by agriculture and the rest are

institutional, commercial, industrial and parks and playground. This is shown in

Table 48 and Figure 48 in the Land Use Plan.

Its land classification is totally classified as alienable and disposable area

(A & D). This is shown in Figure 2 Political Map.

2.2.2 Topography and Vegetation

2.2.2.1 Elevation and Rainfall

Table 2 shows the area of elevation of this barangay. 28% of the

total area is under the elevation of 211-250 masl, then followed by

elevation of 151-180 and 181-210 which got almost the same

percentages. For more details please see Figure 3 and 4.

2.2.3 Slope Category

The slope category of the barangay is stated in Table 3. Under this

table we can see that 92% of the total area is under the slope 0-18 which

explains that the area is not so high with regards to its slope category. This is

illustrated in Figures 5 and 6.

As to vegetative cover of the barangay, 55% or 43.43 hectares is open

forest and 24 has. is planted with different crops. This is stated in Table 4.

2.2.5 Soil and Geology Classification

2.2.5.1 Soil Classification

Total area of the land is a Bolinao Clay Loam type of soil. The surface is

reddish brown, chocolate brown to almost red, fine and compact clay loam.

Limestone is present in the area with a depth of 20 to 35 centimeters. Coconut

and banana are the main crops that are common; there are other crops, like fruits,

leafy vegetables, etc.

2.2.5.2 Geologic Classification

Its geologic classification is pliocene-quaternary.

2.2.6 Land Capability

Land Capability Classification of the barangay describes that 100% of the

total area is under the class De, which is fairly good , strong sloping, severely to

very severely eroded, can be cultivated occasionally if handled with care. It

requires very special and careful management and complex conservation

practices. The area is best suited for pasture and forest.

2.3 Natural Resources

Ditucalan is located at the southwestern tip of Iligan City, one of the 44

Barangays and adjacent to Barangays Maria Cristina and Buru-un. These three

barangays comprise the “Tourism Triangle” of the city, due to the scenic and lush flora

and landscapes, and the waters gushing through the Agus River from Lake Lanao

(some 32 kilometers away) that bisects the three barangays. The famous Tinago

Falls and Maria Cristina Falls are among the existing leisure spots in Ditucalan.
