Germiniano, Kareen Grace C.

MAED TLE

Direction: Answer the first two questions (20 and 15 pts respectively) and choose four more

items from questions 3-10 (10 pts each) to complete the examination.

1. If you are to establish an educational institution, what would be the vision and mission of your

school and upon which philosophical, psychological, sociological and legal foundations of

education will you anchor the goals of your school?

In the educational institution that I will built in or establish first of all my vision

would be love for learning, academically equipped, and challenged individual. My mission

would be develop and active creative minds for life-long learning, innovative and compassion for

others. My goals will be anchored into sociological way because I believed that we can grow by

helping others. Value one another and make a home together by helping each other.

2. Considering the economic, political and social conditions of our country, should secondary

education prepare the individual for gainful employment or prepare them academically for

tertiary education? Prove your point.

Yes, for me, preparing for secondary education it is an opening part of their life wherein

they will get to discover a lot of themselves and into the real-world situation. Subjects offered is

just a glimpse of concept or basis for them to survive in the real-world and they will make it to
apply in the real-world situation or employment. As TLE educator, we teach our learners not just

to passed the exam or assessment but we teach them to practice in living to become globally-

competitive and work-ready.

3. Explain how family plays an important role in the education of children in particular and

in the total development of their personality in general?

Family is the foundation of the society, therefore before we get along with others such as

neighbors, classmates and friends, we get along first with our family. They have an important

role because we are living in the same roof, share a common culture which consists of common

beliefs, customs, values and traditions with that, each member of our family may absorb or

adapts his/her behavior. When it comes to education, before the child can talk, the parent

(especially a mother) serves as a teacher in guiding his/her son/daughter in shaping the child’s

personality, values, philosophy in life, culture and tradition.

6. Do you think the K to 12 Curriculum today is really the best answer in the development

of our educational system? Prove your point.

Maybe yes. Since technology today is much advance than during our time of studying,

learners are not just sitting and looking in the four corners of the classroom, they explore and

discover a lot from the lesson. K to 12 Curriculum promotes global competency by accelerating

mutual recognition of Filipino graduates and professionals in other countries. The program may

be spiral but the advantage of that, is the competencies can be integrated to different subjects and

lessons added to that before they enter to senior year, they can choose tracks they mastered and

preparing for tertiary education and can be gainful for employment and entrepreneurship.
9. What are the causes of individual differences? Give at least four and explain the

implications of knowing these differences in helping students toward the development of his/her

fullest potential.

First, cultural identity, we, Filipinos have different culture and traditions and the same

with other countries. One tradition or culture may differ in other such as way of respect, interest

and personality. The learner may adapt or develop the culture/tradition where he/she live.

Second is age. We have different phases of learning where the learner can do but the

adult can’t and vice versa. Modern times, since the learners explore the big world, he/she may

get to develop his/her knowledge and skills to its maximum capacity despite of the ages.

Third, social and economic status, Philippines is under developing country. First World

country may differ in the opportunities to learn in third-world countries. But we Filipinos,

neglect the being of the term “left-behind”. K to 12 Curriculum is implemented because we want

to produce learners who are globally-competitive.

Last is sex. Study says that Males are good in Math meanwhile girls are good at

Language. But I don’t think so, to develop the learners understanding and develop his/her

knowledge, provide activities which may help his/her cognitive abilities or practice his/her skills.

10. Discuss the influence of the philosophy of John Dewey in the development and

implementation of vocational and technical education.

Vocational and technical Education believes that for us to survive in the real world, we

should be equipped with practices and skills. It is a lifelong learning wherein we apply skills that

may help us to change and grow to develop. The best way to live a life is to experience.
