GOSPEL Matthew 9:14-15

14 The disciples of John approached Jesus and said, “Why do we and the
Pharisees fast much, but your disciples do not fast?”
15 Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the
bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken
away from them, and then they will fast.”

REFLECTION

The Gospel talks about fasting and when it should be done. Jesus tells us that while
He is with us, we should be happy and fast only when He is no longer around. In
recent times, we only fast during lent and holidays of obligation and not all the
time. We fast to sacrifice. We fast to repent for our sins and renew ourselves for
when Jesus returns.
