EXERCISE 1

PHYSICAL BASIS OF INHERITANCE

DATA SHEET

Name: ______________________________ Date:_____________ Rating: _________

Lab. Schedule: _____________________ Lab. Inst./Prof.: Rasel A. Lacandula, MSc.

Instructions: Kindly make a drawing on a separate sheet of paper then take a clear picture of your own
drawing and paste it here. You can insert your computation right after your picture in this
document. You can choose/ select any kind of plant cell (leaf, stem, root etc.), animal cell (blood, skin,
cheek cell, etc.) and bacterial cell (any bacteria) for your illustrations below.

All answers should be handwritten.

1. CELL

A. Make an illustration/ drawing on the location of stage micrometer lines under the microscope in
which the first lines (line designated as 0) of both the ocular and the stage micrometers are being
superimposed showing 6 ocular spaces covered in 3 stage spaces. Then compute for the
calibration factor (cf). Show your solution/ computation. (10 pts.)

A. Illustrations of different cells (plant, animal and bacteria) and computation of the size of
specimens showing the ocular measurements (presence of ruler with the specimen) and
compute for the total magnification of the specimen with 7.5X ocular micrometer. Show your
solution/ computation.(10 pts. each)
