Application

An internet/ web
application or "web app"
is a software program
that runs on a web server.
Unlike traditional
desktop applications,
which are launched by
your operating system,
web apps must be
accessed through a web
browser.
Advantages of the Use of a
Web application
Provides a more consistent user interface across
multiple platforms because the appearance is dependent
on the browser rather than the operating system.
The data entered into a web app is processed and saved
remotely. This allows access of the same data from
multiple devices, rather than transferring files between
computer systems.
Disadvantages of Web Applications to
Desktop Applications

Does not run directly from the operating system and have
limited access to system resources, such as
the CPU, memory, and the file system.
Web apps are entirely dependent on the web browser.
Browser updates may cause incompatibilities with web
apps, creating unexpected issues.

Messaging
or Texting, is the act of composing and

Text messages may be sent over a cellular
network, or may also be sent via
an Internet connection.
The term originally referred to messages sent
using the Short Message Service (SMS) and
has improved to an alphanumeric text to
include multimedia messages using
the Multimedia Messaging Service (MMS)
containing digital images, videos, and sound
content, as well as ideograms known
as emoji .
 Social media is computer-based
technology/ electronic
communication that facilitates the
sharing of ideas, thoughts, and
information through the building of
virtual networks and communities.
By design, social media is
internet-based and gives users

content. Content includes personal
information, documents, videos, and
photos.
Users engage with social media via
computer, tablet or smartphone via

application, often utilizing it for
messaging.
Blogging / Video Blogging

A Blog is a discussion or informational website

published on the World Wide Web consisting of discrete,
often informal diary-style text entries (posts).

A video blog or video log, usually shortened to vlog, is a

form of blog for which the medium is video, and is a
form of web television. Vlog entries often combine
embedded video (or a video link) with supporting text,
images, and other metadata. Entries can be recorded in
one take or cut into multiple parts.
 A wiki (Hawaiian word meaning “ quick” )is
a knowledge base website on which
users collaboratively modify and structure content
directly from a web browser.

In a typical wiki, text is written using a

simplified markup language and often edited with the
help of a rich-text editor.

Wiki A wiki is run using wiki software, otherwise known as

a wiki engine. A wiki engine is a type of content
management system, wherein the content is created
without any defined owner or leader.

Wikis have little inherent structure, allowing structure

to emerge according to the needs of the users.
