1. ABSTRACT-

Garbage plastic and its disposal are a serious threat to the environment, causing global
warming and pollution. The use of plastic waste in mixed bituminous strengthens the road and
will be a solution for the dumping of plastic in the roadway, pot holes, damage and pathways.
Plastic coating is made over composite and mixed with hot bitumen and the resulting mixture is
used to repair and install other small holes. It increases the durability of as well as gives the
strength of potholes .This new technology will help to fill potholes using plastic waste. It is
economical and it is eco-friendly. As per record in India nearly 55lakh tones of plastic waste is
produced yearly. The degradation is too slow process of plastic waste. Therefore the project is
helpful in reducing plastic waste in a usefully way. In different proportion we had used plastic-
waste with bitumen and coarse aggregate.

2. Introduction
2.1 PLASTIC WASTE AND POTHOLES

In India there are large quantities of plastic being manufactured and disposing of this plastic
waste is a major challenge before public authority. The use of this plastic waste is a necessity in
the current situation in India. In line with this the number of people and the road is increasing
day by day so we must provide a strong, solid road to carry this highway. There is a lot of
research being done on the use of plastic waste to help increase the capacity of the road tractor
and to fill potholes and the maintenance of these pits. It is new innovative way of disposing of
plastic waste. Plastic is a very flexible material .Due to the large production of plastic. Plastic
seemed cheap to something green. Plastic consumption in India reached 11 million tons by the
end of 2011-2012. Municipal solid waste is incinerated or replenished. This approach is harmful
to the environment and human health. We can recycle waste because plastic blocking is
currently not possible.

Advantages

• It reduces the need of bitumen by around 20%.

• Eco-friendly strategies
• Improving road health.
• Increase road efficiency and capacity.
• Use a large percentage of plastic waste.

Disadvantages

• Toxic presence in the coexisted plastic can drain.

• The presence of chlorine can produce HCL gas.

5. Test on Bitumen
5.1 Softening Point Test on Bitumen

Penetration grade is useful to decide their suitability of bitumen in different climatic condition.
Generally lower penetration grade of bitumen would be use in warmer climates in order to
avoid softening under high summer temperature.

5.2 Ductility test of Bitumen

Flexibility trial of bitumen is one of the fundamental testicles that you need to do during street
development. We realize that the pliability of a material is the capacity of that material to go
through plastic twisting (perpetual distortion) before the bursting (breaking) of that material.

5.3 Penetration Test of Bitumen

This test is to detect bitumen hardness. Inflammation of bitumen is of 10 millimeters where a

standard needle will enter the bitumen under the gm load applied for seconds in c. The
penetration value indicates the high bitumen thickness will be the penetration softness by
bitumen.

6. Result
1. The crushing rate decreases from 8 to 5.2 with the usual plastic composite. The price is
reduced by 40%. Lower the combined total amount of crush will be stronger.

2. The impact value of the plastic composite coating has been reduced from 9 to 5.2. It is the
highest strength of plastic composites.

3. The Los Angeles abrasion test shows the complexity of the joints. The composite plastic
dimensions were 3.4 less than the standard composites

4. The penetration rate of bitumen is lower with bitumen mixed with plastic compared to
conventional.

5. The plastic paved area lasts longer and can withstand a greater load of vehicles than the
paved road and conditions. The use of plastic blends will reduce the content of bitumen by 20%
and increase road efficiency

7. Conclusion
1. To improve road quality, these technologies have helped to use waste plastics found in
domestic and plastic industries. This adds value to dry processes as this process helps to
dispose of 80% waste polymers in an easy-to-use form. In this way, waste such as handling
bags, foam, lined sheets; cups are all used to lay the road.

2. In addition, the use of composite Plastic helps to reduce the equilibrium, reducing the cost of
filling Potholes on the road. Plastic aggregates are used to make roads better as repairs are less
common

3. We can conclude that using plastic compounds in the mix will help reduce the need for
compaction by up to 20%, increase road efficiency and efficiency, avoid the use of anti-stripping
agents, avoid plastic waste disposal by heating and refilling the earth and ultimately improve
technology.
