Mid-term Exam
1. What is planning and its importance in the organization?
Planning connects us to where we are now (the present) and where we wish to go
in the future (future). It's deciding ahead of time what to do, how to do it, when to do it,
and by whom to do it. To put it another way, foreseeing future contingencies and making
plans to deal with them to achieve a goal.
Planning is critical to the success of any organization. It gives top management the
knowledge they need to make informed decisions about allocating resources so that the
organization may achieve its goals.
The following are some of the reasons why planning is essential in organizations:
it decreases the risk of uncertainty
Eliminates overlapping of wasteful activities, and saves time.
It aids decision-making
It improves motivation and teamwork
It encourages creativity.
In the table below, the key points of difference between strategic and operational
planning are discussed.
Objective To establish plans as per the mission and To determine the routine operations of a
vision of the organization. business unit or department.
Changes Is usually unchanged for long term Changed from time to time
Whatever you want to call it: purpose, objective, or project, planning will help
you achieve it. It doesn't matter your goal or task; you can't reach it without planning.
The eventual objective of a plan is its destination. So, to create a goal and achieve it,
you must plan.
"How will you know when you get there if you don't know exactly where you're
going?" says Steve Maraboli. The act of planning itself provides a sense of direction.
It directs your attention in the right way. It instills a growth mindset in you. As a result,
if you jump into an activity without a goal or a plan, you may not know when or where
to stop.
Planning provides a guide for action. Plans can direct everyone’s actions
toward desired outcomes. When activities are coordinated and focused on
specific results, they are much more effective.
Planning improves resource utilization. Planning helps us determine where
resources are most needed to be allocated where they will provide the most
benefit.
Plans provide motivation and commitment. Planning lowers uncertainty and
clarifies what everyone is responsible for. People are more likely to strive
toward a goal that they understand and are familiar with.
Plans set performance standards. Planning defines desired outcomes and
mileposts to define progress.
4. What can you say about the professional development activities of teachers in
accordance with the teaching goals of the school?
As the country continues to confront the issues brought about by the pandemic, the
Department of Education (DepEd) continues in addressing these challenges in
education.
These are the following on how well the Department of Education manages the
New Normal Education.
a. PLANNING
Translating national education policies into school-based teaching and learning
objectives and targets.
Generating the Learning Continuity Plan (LCP)
Planning both the long-term acquisition of relevant teaching and learning
resources (including finances).
Preparing school syllabuses, schemes of work, timetables, and schedules of
activities.
Preparing schedules for meetings of the Heads of Departments, Level Heads,
Parents Teacher Association, staff, etc.
b. Organizing
Preparing up-to-date job descriptions for all employed staff, and assigning
roles, responsibilities, and duties to staff and pupils.
Arranging for the appointment of new staff and the selection and
appointment
of all staff and students holding responsibility posts.
c. LEADING STAFFING
Hiring and inducting of new teachers, pupils and parents.
Communicating regularly and fully, by the most appropriate means, to all those
with an interest in the school, about school programs and activities
Holding formal and informal discussions/training and seminars with individuals
and groups, including staff and students, and those outside the school, about all
aspects of school life.
Leading and managing the school requires more than hard work and time. An
effective school head or principal therefore also needs to have leadership qualities
and mindset.
a. Educational proposal
It is all about the future in schools. Our students are the generation of the end.
Successful school leaders focus on their schools and personnel by developing an
educational proposal/plan for the future; each proposal should have a vision. My
beliefs and strategy or futures thinking are combined in the vision. Because of my
vision, everyone in the school can comprehend the school's direction and
development priorities. It's my way of expressing myself and engaging and motivating
others.
b. Staff documentation
c. Technical Support
