Reflection on Educational Planning and Management

In Our School

Education is a vital human right that is essential for achieving long-term growth. The
department's mission is to empower every Filipino kid and commit to advancing the educational goal;
as a result, the planning process identifies important priority areas for improvement. While the world's
education needs are enormous, stakeholders such as companies and businesses can use their
resources and core capabilities to help the government fulfil the goal of universal education.

One of the most important aspects of obtaining a good basic education is educational
planning. DepEd, being the government's primary agency in charge of providing basic educational
services, ensures that all programs, projects, and activities are well-planned. Each plan is
meticulously designed to achieve the department's mission, vision, and goals before launching any
educational programs, projects, or activities. We are drafting school policies that are realistic and
applicable in our school. Because we are on the front lines, we know what our learners need in terms
of instructional materials, we can avoid any negative situations or doubts that may arise during the
planning process.

The Department of Education (DepEd) provides schools with a variety of financial tools to help
them improve student and teacher performance (DepEd Order [DO] no. 13, s. 2016). The
Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE) fund is one of the resources accessible to
public elementary schools. MOOE is a government-funded fund for public schools that can be used
for activities and essentials that enhance learning programs and help to keep schools safe and
healthy (DepEd, 2017). In this regard, in compliance with Republic Act 9485, popularly known as the
Anti-Red Tape Act of 2007, accountability in the usage of the MOOE is ensured by posting a
transparency board on its use.

In the last three years, our school's monthly expenses have changed. There were months
when the budget was strict and months when you could buy whatever you wanted. Though our
school's principal may not be able to fit as many goods into the budget as he would like, additional
money can be used to offset or supplement the prices. Moreover, half of the MOOE was spent on
items that were essential to the school's day-to-day operations leaving our school principal with few
discretionary expenditures. Items that had a significant impact on our students' learning and
accomplishment were frequently overlooked in the budget in favor of less important items like ID
cards and equipment. There were also months when the fund was heavily devoted to repairs and
equipment.

In this regard, our principal's ability to manage school money is critical to achieving
educational goals and objectives. This suggests that our school's financial management needs to be
improved in order for us to achieve successful results in education. Furthermore, I discovered that the
involvement of teachers who participate in the budgeting process has a good impact on transparency
in order to provide a path for ethical behavior practices. It is because we are all working towards a
common objective.
