a complicated challenge. According to the National Institute of Statistics and Cessation (INEC),
32 of every 100 Ecuadorians are in a situation of poverty. However, we can set goals to promote
economic development, together with strategies to make this possible. Although help from all
over Ecuador will be needed to struggle with poverty, it is possible to reduce poverty in these
three ways.
_____First of all, support entrepreneurs to create jobs. Entrepreneurship is starting an economic
activity, and this allows for increasing productivity and generating employment. Therefore, it is
important that Ecuadorians try to satisfy their needs with Ecuadorian products or services.
While the enterprises move more and more, it will be possible to make them grow and
generate more profitability. For instance, if someone sees a tomato sauce made in Ecuador and
another made in the United States, if we want to get out of poverty it is necessary to support
Ecuadorian entrepreneurs.
_____Second, allow everyone to have access to a quality university and health services. To
combat poverty, it is necessary to have quality education as this will allow future generations to
have good opportunities and this is a boost to generate jobs. Likewise, it is important to have
health services for all Ecuadorians, since being healthy will allow people to be active in their
work or studies. For example, a working taxi driver becomes ill, but as he is not insured, he does
not have access to health care since for him a consultation is very expensive, he will not be able
to work for a few days due to the circumstances in which he is and will not be able to have his
income.
_____Third, do not allow or tolerate corruption in Ecuador. Corruption is one of the main causes
of poverty in Ecuador and throughout the world. While the Ecuadorian people try to fight
poverty, politicians will try to take advantage of these resources that the population generates.
So, it is important to stop corruption in order to fight poverty. Also, it is important to choose
qualified people to be in politics. For example: In Ecuador, it is seen that many politicians are
people without university studies, so it is important to choose studied and qualified people to
run the country
_____In a conclusion, eradicating or reducing poverty is in the hands of all of Ecuador. Despite,
the current situation due to COVID-19, it is possible to set this goal, so that all of Ecuador
benefits and lives in a country out of poverty and slums. For this reason, it is important to
choose well people who are in politics, who are people of goodwill and with university degrees.
